I saw Joe Montana play quarterback. Winning is great, and he knew how to help his team do that. But the eras are different, and you have to compare based on more than winning because of that. Skill set alone... Rodgers makes Joe Montana look like a high school player. So did Elway. So does Manning.

You mean like when Montana shit all over Elway in the SB 55-10? Yeah. High school player.

Elway is one of the most overrated players in the history of the league. He actually had BELOW AVERAGE YPA, passer rating and completion percentage for the years he was in the NFL. Not below average for a HOFer; below average for any QB from '83 to '98.

And Manning had a chance to establish himself as the best of all time, but he choked it away against the Saints, Steelers, etc.

Too soon to tell with Rodgers.

The drugs aren't really working for you, bro. I think I would get re-diagnosed and start fresh.

There is not even a shred of doubt in my mind that the greatest QB I have ever seen play and who is the greatest QB of all time is Joe Montana.

8× Pro Bowl selection (1981, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1993)
6× All-Pro selection (1981, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1989, 1990)
4× Super Bowl Champion (XVI, XIX, XXIII, XXIV)
3× Super Bowl MVP (XVI, XIX, XXIV)
2× AP NFL MVP (1989, 1990)
Pro Football Hall of Fame (2000 Inductee)
Ranked#4 on NFL.com's Top 100 Players of All Time

Manning might have a few more pro bowls, but he has fewer super bowls and fewer All Pro selections.

I am sorry, but Montana threw 11 touchdowns to 0 interceptions in his four Super Bowls wins....

No one can touch that.

Never have been a Notre Dame fan, but Montana almost converted me.

I SO wanted to see the Patriots find a way to get the 1st pick in the draft that year so they could et him. I ended up just being glad he didn't go to a New York or LA team. Even then I was sure he'd win Super Bowls unless he got stuck on a team with a dimbulb front office.

I don't think era would have made much difference with Montana. He had the IQ to be able toadapt to whatever he needed to.

Saw live? Brady or Manning. Anyone who thinks there is a significant gap between the two when talking about who is the better QB is either a homer or a moron. I go back and forth, both are top 5 in history. I would say the top 4 of all time are Montana, Unitas, Brady, and Manning.

I think Elway is very overrated. I think Montana would be great today. I've never seen either play on anything but a tv screen. I've seen Favre, Rodgers and Manning in person. Manning got his ass handed to him that day. I think he threw 2 int's returned for TD's at least against a less than stellar Packer team that day.

Favre was one of my favorite players to watch ever, I think I'd take Rodgers as my everyday QB and I don't think Manning is miles ahead of either in fact I'd put him behind both. Maybe slightly ahead of Rodgers just because of time in the NFL. I'd take Brady over Manning.

Favre isn't top 20. Manning, Rodgers, and Brady all shit on him.

For one game it would have to be Vick against the Skins (? not real sure if that's who they played) in 2010. He had 300 yards passing, 50 yards rushing, 4 passing TD's and 2 Rushing TD's.

If it's for a career, it would be Peyton. He just does so much and always gives his team a chance to win.

In person....Dan Marino however, for me, Joe Montana and John Elway are both on the short list for best ever along with Marino. John Unitus, before my time, seems to get the nod as best ever. Elway gets a bad rap on this thread. He played for a bad team for a lot of years. In addition to passing he was excellent at running.

Current:
#1) Aaron Rodgers (because he can actually win in the cold!)
#2) Peyton Manning (ultimate field general)
#3) Drew Brees (incredibly accurate)

Past:
#1) Joe Montana (minus his KC years)
#2) Johnny Unitas (probably the only QB from way back when that could thrive in todays game)
#3) John Elway or Steve Young (Slight edge to Young)

Best QB I ever witness in person would have to be Favre. It was back in '96 and he was playing the Seahawks in the old Kingdome.
