I don't even know anything about Beasley so there is no way I can unequivocally claim that he most definitely is a thug.

And the guy who suggested I take an exit from the thread purely based on my Biblical beliefs is clearly biased against me because of my religion.

Whatever floats his boat, I guess. That is America. Whatever floats one's boat is considered to be the norm, generally speaking.
The unfortunate truth is few people know how to intelligently debate anymore.

They are far more likely to try to talk patients out of abortions, or to have ulterior motives to taking the job. They would be also far more likely to be unhappy in the job and bring down the morale of others.

I believe people have the right to do pretty much anything that doesn't hurt others, but there are a lot of things that would make them a bad fit in any given company. Clothing choice (and not being willing to change) is one example. Same with hairstyle and some tattoos. There are a wide variety of other examples where I respect someone's choice to do something, but it excludes me from working with them.
Whats wrong with trying to talk people out of an abortion? As long as they dont cross the line I have no problem with that. I would let them go if they were unhappy in the position but they would at least have that opportunity to educate themselves.

So true. And more and more people even care to debate anymore. They slap a label on you and chunk you and your opinion into File 13. Then they proceed to make fun of you to their pleasure. It is a broken world. :sigh:

Because that's not their job. If you go to an abortion clinic, the person taking your information shouldn't be telling you whether or not to do it. That's your decision and their job is to fill out the paperwork and handle it with discretion.

I missed the last part of your post. There is a big difference in respecting someones right to dress how they choose and believing in your heart that it should not matter. It sounds like you have the same stance as TF12 where its cool as long as it doesn't interfere with business.

Yes, there are many "gray areas" in all of those things.

It does have something to do with your dress code if you are the owner and if thats what you believe. As I said earlier if you believe people have a right to dress how they wish in any situation but keep them from employment simply because your business would suffer then you lack conviction in your stated belief. Its not too hard of a concept to grasp if you are being real with yourself. Save yourself some typing on a response because we apparently are missing each other somewhere.

It's pretty simple really!! I believe that people have the right to look and dress how they want on THEIR time!! If I am an employer and I have a business where how they dress is important to the business, that is a completely different thing and they are on MY time.

I never said that I believe people should be able to dress and look however they want in any and all situations. I said I believe that they should be able to dress and look how they want on their time. When they are on an employers time, they are being paid to represent that company the way the owner wants their business represented.

I still disagree. While idealism is great, it doesn't make sense to lose money because things "shouldn't matter" but do. You have to accept and adjust to how the world actually works to be successful. If you "shouldn't have to" consider the chance that employees can steal from you, should you just pretend there's no chance and ignore signs of the contrary?

I see what you are saying. I was thinking more along the lines of a counselor helping a person make a decision instead of some random admin worker. If it was not part of their job description to assist with helping the person be sure in their actions then I would can them if they were harassing someone.

How in the hell he looks like he haven't showered? Lets say he does look like that, how in the hell that makes him look like a thug?

And newflash to you: That hairstyle might look a mess to you, but that is called wearing your hair natural. You might not notice, but that is a normal hairstyle in the black culture. And even if it is a mess, dgo that make you look like a thug?

Here it is geneh

Even a counselor should be objective and help them figure out what they want to do, not judging what they do as morally wrong regardless of the situation.

And that's not to say there's anything wrong with thinking that. But if you're making the patients decision harder on them instead of easier on them you're the wrong person for the job.

Sorry, dude, natural hairstyle or not, he looks like a thug to me. I will add that I am making it perfectly clear that I do not judge him to actually be a thug, but he only appears to be one to me.

I stated earlier that I understood how Hammer thought he looks like a thug.

If you or anyone else finds it offensive that I think that I do humbly apologize as I do not mean to offend anyone.

But the bottom line is that the dude looks like a thug to me. I am not familiar with the "culture" that accepts that particular hairstyle as "neat and proper." Like I said, if you find that offensive, please accept my apology.

Dont get mad at me but thats apathy in its purest form. You can't run around afraid of what ifs and saying thats just how it is. Hell my ass would be working in a cotton field somewhere for free if everyone thought like that. As far as employees stealing from you do what you can to protect yourself and write it off as a loss and recoup on the insurance.

Don't worry, I dont let these things get to me. No need to apologize. Its just a debate and I just wanted to understand where you were comming from. Looks like we will just have to disagree on the topic. No biggy!

Just from what I've heard most people that go to get an abortion really are not completely decided. Counsellors are trained to pick up on that indecision. My particular thought on the subject is to save the child if possible but in the end its the womans decision since the child is in her body. As long as the person was not brow beating or harrassing the person i would actually count it as a bonus if the person was talked out of it.

Not everything can be changed. You pick your battles and fight for the things worth changing. Giving people the "right" to not wear a suit to a meeting with clients will lose you the client, not make a stand against it being "wrong".

I'll agree it's better than talking people into it who aren't sure, but maybe such a loaded issue wasn't the best choice for discussion. I feel that in a lot of cases abortion is a better option than bringing in a kid to suffer, but that's a debate to be had elsewhere.

A counselor should be helping the parent decide on their own, not pressuring them into a decision either way.
