Sorry, I wasn't being serious with my response. LOL, if Panda were using, it's not working out very well for him to be so fat. He would need to call Melky to get the stuff the Melkman was using.

In all seriousness, no one would surprise me anymore. Sometimes you think you can say for sure that some guy isn't using, but you never know. I'm long past putting these guys on a pedestal. I've realized that it's just human nature that some of these guys will turn to the dark side in order to try to get ahead and land a big payday.

I've never really understood why people get so upset, or disillusioned, by athletes doing drugs to reach peak performance. It's a total non-issue for me. Although I do respect that baseball itself can choose to make one thing or another cheating, and in that regard, PEDs, to me, are no worse than getting caught doctoring a baseball, or using a corked bat.

Is anyone really upset when an athlete has lasik surgery, or has their UCL improved via tommy-john surgery, or takes ibuprofen to cope with a 162 game schedule?

Make no mistake about it, I'd be crushed if someone like Posey were revealed to have used PEDs, but I would move on as I always have.

To me it's about dishonesty and hypocrisy. I want to get emotionally attached to certain sports players, it's part of the fun, not just the winning games. And if a guy I've felt good about is sitting there saying what a shame Melky did so-and-so but we gotta move on, he's still our teammate, let's win the division for him, etc...and then that guy gets busted for it himself?

It just turns that connection I had into shit, the guy's a liar and a hypocrite. And if it's literally golden boy baseball HEROs like Cain or Posey....I just would be fucked up about it.

I get the logic of saying it's just like weight training or LASIK or any other thing Babe Ruth didn't get to have. But for me this is also emotional.

That's all I was saying. But I respect those able to keep a greater distance. Maybe for SF fans it's easier, obviously because they got to root for and closely watch the greatest hitter of all time be brought down by literally a Greek tragedy related to PEDs. And so you have to be cynical about PEDs to keep rooting.

I understand and respect it, just saying for me there's still complex emotions. I was really kinda opening up to Melky, and then another cynical outcome.

Yeah right on there. Buster Posey would be #1 for me because he's supposed to be "a natural" like The Thrill and it would definitely be a kick in the nuts to find out he's "an unnatural" but Matt Cain would be a close second and then Bumgarner.

Any of those guys, if they were caught red-handed I would suddenly be very much less interested in professional baseball. If I'm going to waste time watching a game instead of being productive I want to witness true talent and ability, otherwise I might as well be watching the fuckin Jersey Shore.

I never really put much stock in PEDS or ROIDS to begin with. I just accepted that they were part of the game and would remain so in the future. For every athlete thats tests positive there are 10 they don't see. That's the way I felt until the Bonds scenario played itself out. For me it just became a witch hunt trying to defame one of the greatest players to ever walk on the field. I knew he took 'something'. That was always pretty clear to me but I didn't care. He was still one of the greatest players I ever saw. What I dispised was all the arguing that ensued following the allegations. I hated the trolls that infested our boards. I hated trying to defend an entire team because one player took 'something'. But I did. This was my team. Almost made it personal for me. The Melky sistuation is starting to raise the same concerns. People are calling for us to forfiet games. Probably the same assholes that wanted to '*" all of Bonds accomplishments. Living in NY it was amazing to see the difference is response to Bonds and AROD from the very same fan base. No matter what we do this year ... good ... bad ... or just OK .... everythig will be tainted by Melky and we will be in somewhat of a defensive position .... I can hear it now .... "If Melky didn't use PEDS they would be just another 3-4 place team" .... wonder if they will want an "*" next to out 2012 WS Title!

Yeah, I don't think I keep a greater distance from the game, or players. I just don't see PED being a big deal. I don't have a problem with athletes pushing the knowledge envelope in search of anything that might make them better. That's part of what makes us human.

This. It makes for difficult conversations with children about science that I don't completely understand, but I imagine those conversations occur quite often when one has kids of certain ages. Luckily, I don't have to worry about that just yet or until my nephews start asking questions. Then, I can just say, "Ask your Mom and Dad."
