There are several storylines at play here.

1) these rookies are already millionaires because of NIL (student compensation).
2) Not sure how much the NFL sets aside advertising, reservations, etc for Indy/combine, but you cant help but wonder if Goodell views non-participation as a snub to "the NFL process."
Wouldn't suprise me if he did. Each year more and more of the top recruits at the key positions are sitting out the combine and opting instead for the pro days. Think I heard that MHJ and Malik Nabers are sitting out as well.

I dont think it matters as long as he can say he had 18 black quarterbacks starting this season, so it makes it sound like his diversity crap is a success. They dont even count mixed against his quota.

Trust me when I say I'm not making any excuses for Williams, as I still have some serious doubts about taking him with our #1 pick. But to get on his case for skipping the physical part of the combine when he's going to host a pro day seems like a waste of emotion.

I just am putting the importance on throwing to really good receivers that he has not practiced the route with 100 or 1000 times. Somehow this guy does not strike me like DeMar Derozan who demands his team mates go thru his preseason "basic training" to bond and work out hard to get better. This guy seems like he is everything wrong with todays NFL.

I'm coming around to that way of thinking as well. Gotta say Williams has been showing a lot of positives lately.

Too me it showed a little class and coming of age.......

If he wants to make it in with the big boys, all the negative talk(if he actually said anything),the mama's boy bit, fingernails and dress( which I think is photoshopped) will all be forgotten......

Like you said, I've kinda moved on from some of those negatives. There are still two concerns for me: (1) his penchant for holding onto the ball too long. He got away with that in college, he won't in the pros. (2) I just wish the kid would get an agent, I'm getting shades of Roquan with this.

I Seen one problem somewheres, his tape showing him in the pocket running backwards to get out of jambs ala Lamaar,Im pretty sure hes not Lamaar in that type of situation and shouldjust get rid of it instead, but to me,thats very fixable......

And Im not sure about agents tho,if hes a cheap ass he would be saving money by not having them take their cut.......agents are out for theirselves.....

And Im sue theres pros and cons to these agents, but I just look at them as the evil empire.

What happened? I thought all the idiots in here were saying Williams was intentionally doing bad things so the Bears wouldn't draft him? I thought C Williams wanted not to be drafted by the Bears?

Idiots be idiots on here.

While I still prefer he gets an official agent, one who's experienced in NFL negotiations, being he'll be on a rookie contract, there's only so much wiggle room anyway, so it might not turn out to be that big of a deal. Or so I hope.

It was more less his talkheads doing all the talking and not so much him......Caleb was unaware of discusdions......

Maybe he should be getting an agent instead of listening to those dumb fucks, headed by his father.......

With the way things are going.....just keep Fields and make it an open competition.

Fields would probably win.....if he gets hurt, start Williams. If he sucks, start Williams. If Fields bitches, release him. They wouldn't be keeping him past next season anyway.....

If he plays well as a starter and a QB gets hurt....a team may come calling and offer a 3rd or 4th for him. then they can start Williams.

Right now there is no market.

That's become my take as well. No sense just giving him away.
