Except the Rams I guess? Rams lost due to horrible DB and special teams play in an OT game in Baltimore.
Of course there are exceptions. :noidea:

Do you think 3 points in the second half is a strong performance?

Probably not. I just look at the body of work in the game. You don't have to agree that Goff had a great game, but the stats seem to tell a different story. I mean, some QB's start out slow and pull it out in the end, others start hot and slow down, while some play consistent all game.

Goff's numbers on Sunday were great. Although, it sounds like Rams fans disagree. Which is fine. Maybe I'm just being biased. :heh:

Most passes were short, thats on your underneath and top coverages… not just your secondary.

Its also Kinda funny seeing how your scores were 50 and 38 yards. Especially compared to Goofs 2 yard TD pass.

Good luck with Staffords 16th and 17th seasons. His old lady is gonna start nagging him this offseason. He will do as she tells him.

That last season on his contract will likely not happen. He's back for 2024 for sure, potentially 2025 (if he retires; Rams don't have an easy out until after the 2025 season for 18.5m in dead cap). Rams need to get a QB behind him soon.

That sounds about right. I think you have Stafford for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. If he doesn't retire before 2026, at that point you might just have to cut him a check and move on. He still looks good to me, so it's a good problem to have for now.

Ideally, if you want to move him, he plays great football next year, but you still lose a lot of games. Someone trades for him, and you restart the clock with a new QB (I would assume drafting one).

Great in the first half, yes. 6-9, 83 yards in the second half with 2 sacks and 3 total points.

It seems both teams had that happen in the 2nd half. I think Stafford had 6 points. Both guys played great and made passes when they needed them. If it weren't for burning those 2 timeouts early in the 2nd half, Stafford might have gotten another chance to win it. I'm glad he didn't get a chance.

Nobody is trading for a $50M+ QB at the end of his career (well, maybe the Jets lol).

Still lose a lot of games? He's 24-17 as a Ram with a SB trophy. Last year was an injured mess of a season.

A different ref performance would've been adequate

If it is a 1-2 year rental and they have a SB ready team (QB goes down), I could see someone trading for him. It's just a hypothetical. I'm not saying it's likely to happen.

Relax, I'm just saying of the team doesn't perform well. I'm not predicting they will lose a lot of games. Just painting a scenario here for how you might get rid of him.

The money implications and cap hits involved with trading expensive players are tricky.

Go look at his numbers the last two years. Dude has played really, really well.

And remember that unlike the real world, salaries inflate massively from year to year. And the new extension wouldn't kick in until 2025.

The Lions dont need to sign him if they dont want to. He will have plenty of teams like Washington, New England, Pittsburgh, Vegas, Titans, Falcons that would love to solidify their QB position. And that is just the teams that need QB's this offseason.

And its the need for a guy like Goff as to why his contract will be so high. Detroit needs to lose Goff for 6-8 games for the fans to appreciate where the team would be without him much like Cousins being out has made Vikings fans appreciate stability at the most important position in football. Both QB's arent going to be confused with Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes...but their respective teams aren't playoff teams without them.
That is fine. When 11 QBs go in the first 2 round then we will see how great the FA market is. I would not go above 40 per year and no more the 4 years with the last year being an option. Without Ben Johnson's offense he might not be good enough. Lions are no longer content with being in the playoffs. Going forward both Holmes and Campbell are SB or bust.

I don’t know how else to tell you bud. He played a really good game but he’s not good under pressure. We pointed out the 5 times he was pressured. All incompletions or sacked for zero.

So…..What happened was he was pressured

Lol
Why is it so difficult to understand that the Lions dont give up many pressures? Do you think the Rams only tried to pressure 5 times and thought well we were successful every time but we wont do it any more just cuz?

We all understand they have a strong line. However, Rams are not a strong defensive unit this year (bottom 9 in sacks, pressures and pressure %). Things will be tougher with each round and those 5 pressures were enough to effectively stop the offense for a half without turnovers.

I’ve said many times they have a good Oline. Lolol

I also said Goff isn’t good in the pocket when pressure comes. You’re about to get into the lions den of the best teams. Pressure in that pocket is coming my man.

Cowboys and Eagles fans should not be commenting at all after this weekend. Both teams got anal raped. And one of them at home.
Lions are not garbage for the first time since the Bush/Clinton transition and now they’re dictating who can comment on the NFL and who can’t. Got it.

I am a little surprised how much resistance there is to the idea Goff is just an average/slightly above average QB.

He has been the definition of a frontrunner in his career. I don't recall this level of aplogisim for Tua, another frontrunner in the AFC with now the longest playoff win drought in the NFL. Got unceremoniously crushed by the Chiefs' defense.
He's not an average or slightly above average QB. He's a QB who plays exceptionally well in patches and then plays below average in patches. He's never been average or slightly above average.QB.
