Yep but you dont mind a little adjustment to knock that rust off in early July....you dont have that luxury in a best of 5 playoffs series. Baseball is a sport that is played almost everyday and at most you get 2 days off in a week. No need for the week off to the bye teams. If you are going to keep this format with the extended break for the top 2 seeds them maybe change this round to best of 7 at least

They rested guys, they set up their rotation and they stayed sharp in the cages and with simulated games. This stuff is so silly to me. These guys are professionals and they’ve been playing baseball since they’ve been 4 or 5 years old. You don’t forget how to play the game when you have 5-6 days off. It’s all just excuse making. People don’t like an outcome so they look at what is different and they conclude that must be it.

Kershaw has been shitting the bed in the post season in any format for years. The Braves are the Braves because they win the division 24 out of 30 years and yet only have 2 World championships. They shit the bed in any playoff format. It’s all over blown.

Forgetting how to play baseball and being rusty are two different things entirely, but I get your point.

The O’s lost yesterday because they walked 11 batters, not because they were off for a week.

Regardless, the playoff seeding format is dumb.

I’m already in favor of 7 games. The only fix is to go with 2 more teams and do it like the NBA. 8 teams. Everybody plays round 1. Seeding is based on wins. Being the tallest midget in a poop division no longer gets you home field.

You can keep round 1 three games all at home team’s park. Then 7 in LDS, 7 in LCS, 7 in WS.

Not true about 2021 braves. That was under the old format (1 game playoffs)

Braves played Brewers and both teams had the same rest. Dodgers and Cards was the 1 game playoffs

It's just not the norm. This is the equivalent of the nfl having their top seed off for a month before the divisional round while the team they will face played the previous 3 weeks
