Blacksburg Eats!

Most of the time I just hung out at the Rivermill though (okay, all the time). Had some of the best prices and selection on tap. Plus, depending upon who was cooking, we would order off menu items that were awesome.

The Rivermelt is awesome. I use to go there on Pint Night (dollar pints, 2 dollar imports!!!) and destroy a couple of Rivermelts with a few brews.


I also like the Cellar. I usually got the personal pizza during Hammertime. I never really ate downtown all that much. PKs and Sharkey's were pretty good, but that's about it. You can throw in HappyWok (is that still there?) as well if you want to include non-bars. I loved me some HappyWok though I thought Chinese Kitchen on Patrick Henry was better.

Boudreaux's is definitely my favorite. Nothing better than eating cajun food out on the deck there. Joe's is a great late night diner. Anybody ever go to the Gobbler? It was a defunct Pizza Hut with a lot of townies. It was behind my apartment in Tech Terrace and we'd go there all the time for karaoke.

Yea now its a foreign food store. Joe's is better than IHOP. I love their Carolina Breakfast.

Hell yeah! We used to do the same thing every once in a while and go late night to crush $1 high life's and sing karaoke. My roommate one made out w this townie who probably weighed 350 after he demanded she duet Summer Lovin with him.

When you had big groups they would even throw out free pizza too

The Cellar had some good food. Really liked their Greek salads and would get the personal pizza and drink combos for lunch.

Liked PKs buffalo chicken pizza and when they would do coin flips to see if you got it for free.

Sharkey's wings weren't bad, but would only go with friends who wanted to get the large 34 oz. beers.

Would go to the Hokie House for the comedy club on Wednesday nights and would grab a heart stopper and a few pitchers of beer (and I was normally the DD).

I started out doing comedy club at HH, but then Attitudes (i think it was called) started having comedy club the same night and had far better acts

Rivermill was the place to be though, for sure...can't argue with $1 keystones, lol....by the time i graduated though, the mill had started turning into a spillover for TOTS, which sucked balls. god that place was terrible

river mill is pretty gay. i saw VT FF as more of a London Underground kind of guy. Also, people like Big al's so much, but a lot of "poors" go there. not necessarily poor in terms of finances, just they look poor and/or towny-ish if you will. definitely a deterrent for me.

Times change. When I graduated in 09, no one went to HoHouse and the greek scene was very into Big Als.

To me, there is really no difference between Champs, HoHouse, Big Als, and Sharkey's. The only thing that matters is which has a better crowd

The Blacksburg Police department is the worst place to go on a Friday/Saturday night in Blacksburg. I know because I've been there. I, completely serious here, am the reason why there's no longer a UVA banner in the Hokie House.

Sharkey's, TOTS, Big Als were always packed with Greek life when I was out (2008-2009).

Gillies is great for breakfast, I go there every time i am in town.
