This defense has been historicallly terrible for 3 years now

Actually you are wrong slightly lol. in 2020 and 2021 they started off historically bad after like 7-9 games they were top 10 the rest of the way. This tells me the coaching was there the players were not. Then you get morons chanting Fire Norton Fire Norton when he was not the problem the lack of talent on the defense was and he made them play BETTER than they were. To many people on this board believe they know what they are talking about. Now Richards he was trash, the defense started off good and regressed under him something awful with the same players. They just kept getting worse and worse. Norton got the Defense when there was very little talent left.

It wasn't THIIIIIS bad. I mean Richard and Norton were bad, but we just made two teams with over half their starting squad out look like the most prolific offenses in NFL history.

Cody Barton is not good. Diggs is MIA. Our DL is simply losing the battle at the line.

I mean everyone is predicting Seattle takes a QB with one of their first round picks.... I kind of wonder at this point, are they just going to go DL and LBer with the first two? I'm starting to wonder if they take a QB with the 1st. QB is clearly NOT the problem at this point.... I mean outside of the San Fran game, the D is the reason we're 2-3 and not 4-1.

6'0 or taller

300 Pounds or Bigger.

@Sharkonabicycle . I agree with you but i'm one of those that says take a QB. Geno is Decent but he is Sporadic.

We have seen some Good plays and some bonehead plays.

Also smith is in his 30's . We need to start looking towards our future...

What i would want:

1st) QB
2nd 1st) Fat boy DL
1st 2nd) Fat boy DL
2nd 2nd Fat boy DL

None of the college top QB have looked all that good to me this year. Not excited. They all are very limited QB's in the big picture. I hope the Hawks don't "OVER DRAFT" a QB when this team is 2 or 3 drafts away. Finding a Kirk Cousins type QB in the 4th would be the smart move. Need a Game Manager not a game changer because when you go after someone you think is a game changer QB you bust more often than hit.

This stupid scheme has LB's running all over the field. Forced to get in position more than reading the play. I'm tired of this stupid Zone.

Need a game changer on Defense .....qb in late rounds. Jalen Carter from Georgia wwould be outstanding. Probably not gonna happen.

Yah I mean I get it. But in your scenario, substitute a fat boy DL for an inside linebacker that knows how to play in a 3-4. Barton is not the answer and Brooks (he did admittedly make some great stuffs today) is NOT an answer in coverage. He never was even when Wagner was here. And Taylor doesn't appear to know wtf is going on in general. If we can get a good NT with one of our firsts next year, get a new ILB, get Mafe more reps, and pay another 3-4 EDGE rusher (or down lineman) I think there might be something there.

Adams is more expensive next year for dead cap than his actual cap, so pay that fuck one more year and then cut him and stop trading away your picks, Carroll/Schneider.

I mean let's see how the season unfolds, but as of now a QB (or a top round QB) is not the problem with this team or coaching staff. Wilson was a 3rd round pick. Do we need some high draft pick QB to win? Well as of now, no.... as of the past, no. What we need is a fuckin' defense.

with the 3-4 there is SO MUCH MORE on the Linebackers plate. You draft 3-4 linebackers, rarely can you turn someone into a 3-4 linebacker.

Need a couple DT like Tez and Adams to run an effective 3-4.

Poor tackling and incorrect reads on D continue. The mistakes were big, often game changing.

Honestly Breeze outta Clemson 6'5 311 would be a good pick.

also i see a lot of people talking about Diversity hires, let me explain that to you.
The idea behind the new rule was to encourage teams to hire more minority coaches and executives and develop them. Under the new rule, any team that loses a minority coach or executive to a head coach or GM job will be compensated with two third-round picks that will be awarded as one pick in two consecutive years.

You don't get picks unless you LOSE one not hire one and only if they get a HC or GM job.

Sadly, Taylor looks lost in this scheme. I knew that the switch would be an issue for certain players but Taylor looked like a possible cornerstone to build around last season.
