Remember the complete bust they drafted last time they moved up to #3 and bypassed Patrick Mahomes.

Doesn’t matter. Still a massive bust for a top 3 pickThey moved back to #3 not up and this time they are taking a QB.
Lance never faced any quality competition at North Dakota. They would be fools to take that guy at 3. I have a bad feeling they’ll go for Fields who has “bust” written all over himI'm really thinking we moved up to insure we get Trey Lance. I don't think Justin Fields is a Shanahan type QB. I think Kyle is looking at the film and seeing Lance under center, using play action, being a lethal threat rolling outside the pocket, and Mahomes like at turning busted plays into big plays and going that's my guy. He's raw but he's already got experience doing things I need him to do. Fields on the other hand I believe worked mostly full time out of Shotgun or Pistol formations.
I haven't watched anything Wilson yet to see if maybe they believe the Jets won't take him and how he would fit in with Shanahan.
I don't think Lance is necessarily a good fit either and Lance is the biggest riskI'm really thinking we moved up to insure we get Trey Lance. I don't think Justin Fields is a Shanahan type QB. If you read the weaknesses under Lance's scouting report and didn't know who the report was for you would think it was Kaepernick's scouting report. He is young and inexperienced. A big risk at #3. Fields has issues also but so does Mac Jones. So really who is left unless Wilson falls to #3?Lance never faced any quality competition at North Dakota. They would be fools to take that guy at 3. They all have good qualities but we always focus on the negatives, human nature i guess. Seems to me all of these highly rated QB's can be good NFL QB's, granted intangibles is something they can't measure. If you read the weaknesses under Lance's scouting report and didn't know who the report was for you would think it was Kaepernick's scouting report. I read the good parts also. Their listed good qualities are mostly physical. The types of passes they are able to throw and stuff like that. The negatives for Lance and Fields effect their ability to play well from the pocket. Not surprising given their lack of experience. Yep, while they are all likely to be NFL starters, which one will be worth all of this draft capital? Which one has the intangibles that'll translate his skills to be a top tier NFL QB? Not worried we'll draft a bust but this kind of trade needs a top NFL QB, not just a starter.I read the good parts also. Their listed good qualities are mostly physical. It could very well be a bust. If you look at the list of high first round draft picks, the bust rate is pretty high. I don't see any of the mostly like three as sure fire picks. hoping for Wilson to drop but that is most likely not going to happen. I see Lance as the biggest risk and bust potential. Mac Jones has the highest floor but also the lowest ceiling. More likely to end up like a Kirk Cousins or Jimmy G. Questionable the need to trade up for that.Yep, while they are all likely to be NFL starters, which one will be worth all of this draft capital? I initially didn't like this trade up at all, but knowing they don't see JG any better, wanting his cap hit for others, wanting to re-up Warner and Bosa to big contracts, poor QB class next year, expecting to draft lower, and it all makes sense. If they don't see JG as the guy, we'd have to get another QB no matter, why not now with these quality prospects.
Even Wilson has had only one good season. I think he missed 2019 with injury and BYU doesn't exactly play a powerhouse schedule either. I think I'd rather go with a guy who played in a pro style offense and was unbelievably successful once he got his chance. So I guess I'd go with Jones. If you read the weaknesses under Lance's scouting report and didn't know who the report was for you would think it was Kaepernick's scouting report. Yes, anyone could end up a bust and after i posted this i saw the last five were in fact 'busts'.It could very well be a bust. This season BYU had their schedule cancelled but it would have been tough if not for Covid. With that said the only good team they played Wilson played terrible, like undrafted rookie terrible.Even Wilson has had only one good season. After reading and reading and reading, i have to agree Fields is the pick. If the Jets take him first then it doesn't drop a lot to Wilson, but Fields is the pick. Do like some qualities in Lance and Jones too, and don't see why they wouldn't succeed? But looks like Fields has the highest odds of becoming elite out of these three.Fields is the 2nd best QB in this draft. We shouldn't over think and over analyze this and just take him. Let the Jets take the Mitch Trubisky of the Draft in Wilson and let us have our Watson. Fields has been neck and neck with Lawrence for the best QB in the country since High School. Lawrence had more success in College, but Lawrence was a starter as a Freshman while Fields had to sit behind Jake Fromm. Fields in 2 years at Ohio State showed plenty to back up his 5 Star Recruit rating. He torched Clemson in the head to head matchup against Lawrence in the Semi-finals this year, and yet all we hear is he can't do this or can't do that. He's way more talented than Wilson and Jones and will make some GM looks foolish for passing on him. Hopefully that's not John Lynch. I do like Lance still, but Lance is a great pick at #12 not #3. At #3 you get a game changer and with Lawrence gone it's Fields all the way.
I don’t think you can compare Fields with Watson. Watson was much more polished as a passer coming out of college. I’d compare Fields more with the cat from Buffalo; raw but super athletic with a great armFields is the 2nd best QB in this draft. We shouldn't over think and over analyze this and just take him. it’s a tough one but it seems that maybe Jones fits the Niner scheme better than Fields does. I really don’t see any weakness in Jones’ game. It’ll be interesting to see what Shanahan’s thinking was once the pick is madeAfter reading and reading and reading, i have to agree Fields is the pick. No one can measure intangibles but seems to me Fields has enough 'resume' hinting its good.
