Someone explain this to me. How is it at at RB that is arguably the best in the NFL having a hard time getting to be paid like he is. I personally think Zeke is the best RB in the NFL but that is just one man's opinion but have no problems with anyone saying that Bell is. The franchise tag if I am not mistaken is the average of the top 5 salaries right? He should be getting paid that kind of money.

2 guys above 1800 and 1 just a tad under 1800. So no, not a lot of players have this type of production. I think you're under valuing what he can still do.
How many of them have 406 touches? Listen Bell is good, my "pedestrian " comment was in reference to his performance last year vs prior years. Nothing he did last year was exceptional . He averaged 4 ypc and 7.7 yards per catch . The only thing he accomplished of note last year was compiling a lot of touches. 2017 Bell was the RB equivalent of Matt Stafford. Still good, just not elite anymore . Maybe that changes back this year. We will see

I would go Gurley 1, and Bell 1A...Zeke 3 or 4, largely because I haven't seen him much as a pass catcher and he plays behind one of the best OL in the game.

That said, Bell basically wants top RB money and partial #2 WR money...his franchise tag money on a long term deal would likely shut him up about contract, but on a team like PIT with a lot of expensive players on long term deals you simply can afford to do it.

The reason the Steelers have paid the tag money (especially this yr) is they feel the SB window is now. If they don't get it done this season, look for Bell to be playing on another team next yr.

Bell has never been a breakway RB that will wow you with YPC, but at the end of the season, elite production is there. But to your point...this imo is why Bell is making a huge mistake. If his stats drop off even more (they could) that huge contract he's looking for goes with it.

Because RB's aren't worth shit- plain and simple. You can find a RB that does 80% of what Bell does with a day 2 pick most every other year or so.

17M like what Bell wants is a total joke.

RB's should be towards the bottom of the totem pole as far as offense/defense goes.

I can understand RB's getting shorter contracts in terms of length because of durability issues but to put very low value on the top RB's in the game does not make any sense to be honest.

Absolutely does in a passing league. We're talking about a guy averaging between 4-5 YPC if he's good and has a good OL.

Backup QB's routinely do better than 6 yards an attempt.

Turnovers are at their lowest ever point; QB play has never been better and the passing rules make it that much more slanted.

If you have John Elway's passer rating today, you may be Tim Tebow.

I would never even entertain extended a RB unless it was for peanuts or had a YPC >5 with HR potential. You can also find a RB on the trade market if you really want or need one anyways. Give me any other position that's not a guard on D or O over RB.

Can't find a photo but there was a guy front row( where the wrestlers come out) with a "pay Leveon sign" at the WWE PPV in Pittsburgh.

I want to see him get paid but Pittsburgh does have a history of making RB's

Does anyone with a straight face take Le'Veon Bell over AJ Green, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown when they signed their last contracts? Demaryius Thomas?

as has been mentioned, pittsburgh should run him into the ground this season and get one last useful year out of him and then let him walk.

his effectiveness is going to vanish overnight sometime soon in the future.

This.

He only averaged 4ypc but he ran the ball 321 times. And he had 85 receptions. Lot of teams would take that pedestrian stuff.

When you are capable of taking 400 touches and producing, you are worth a hell of a lot. A bunch of people with outdated thinking don't want to pay RBs their shake, but there are only a handful that can really handle the full workload.

Almost every coach has said he'd rather have a single RB than a committee but most RBs haven't been and aren't capable of doing that.

The Steelers get worse without Bell. Even a great back like Deangelo couldn't keep up the production like Bell did in Pittsburgh.

Nope, but most RBs aren't logging the workload that he does. Whomever signs him next year at 27 years old will likely get at least 2 good years out of him. The problem is that he wants a 4-5 year contract to guarantee him more money.
