I understand the warriors doing this given the opportunity. I understand Boogie doing it in light of his market value. I understand the other teams not wanting to throw max deals at him in light of his injury/reputation.

It's all understandable and there's no one really to blame.

But the end result is still that it fucking sucks. It just keeps getting taken to new levels of absurdity.

Remember when we were mad at David West for taking a cheap deal??

I agree mostly, except for the blameless part.

If Dallas is going to sign DJ to a 1 year deal, why not gamble and give that money to Cousins? Same question for the Lakers.

I totally get that teams didn't want to give him a long term deal. I even get Dallas being worried about chemistry and leadership. But what is LA's excuse? They took Rondo and Lance when they could have easily offered Boogie 20 million for 1 year on a prove it deal.

I still think the long term plan of adding Kawhi to the young core + LeBron is the way to go long term. And I praised the Lakers yesterday because I thought Boogie would have required a multi year commitment. It would have been a great chance to see whether or not it could work with very minimal risk.

Now, we get to see Boogie freaking Cousins playing the Zaza Pachulia role For a year. LOL.

I was talking with some buddies about this and one of them brought up a great point.
Imagine how shocked Cousins will be when they feed him the ball in the post and no help is sent to defend him. You literally can’t double him, asyoud leave Curry, Durant or Thompson open. It will be the first time in Cousins career, he will not face double teams on a daily basis.
Then, to top it all off — the 7 foot 270 lb Center shoots 35-40% from 3, so it’ll open the lane up for the Warriors to take their man off the dribble.
GSW games will be must watch TV next year, as you may never see a team with more talent in the History of the NBA.

GSW is making the rest of the NBA look foolish.

And LA, I have NO CLUE what their front office is doing?!? You sign LeBron and you are going to surround him some of the worst 3 point shooters in the league. Maybe they signed Stephenson to make Lonzo Ball feel better about his jumper

Steph, Klay and Dray were but once they found out they were done winning KD came along. Lebron and Kyrie were too much. Now 2 in a row and it’s Cousins. The core was built but not this. This is a monster. I’m actually not mad, the Cavs were in rebuild at the PERFECT time lolzz
yah sseriously...at this point its like wtf...

I think we definitely need to create a thread predicting which Laker support player has the worst 3 point percentage.

If you believe David Griffin, LA and others WERE absolutely interested. They were just
playing the negotiating game and making him wait. The knew the market on him wasn't great and were letting him realize that so they could come in with offers of 10-15. Which in retrospect was a mistake but I don't think anyone saw him making the move so quickly. He didn't give anyone a chance to beat the deal.

IMO, this move was more about ego than about winning.

LA seems to be playing for next season, everyone got 1 year deals. So unless an amazing trade opportunity comes along they'll be back in a great position next year with an unbelievable FA class.

If anything, the Cousins signing actually probably validates that plan.

This is why I thought the Lakers should have signed Cousins. Either you are gonna double Cousins, and he will still get his points and boards, or you are gonna man him up and he'll kill you. Would have made life much easier for an aging LBJ. Now, put him on the Warriors and that effect doubles because of all their shooters and floor spacing. I've seen where Boogie wants to be in camp in Sept, but the smart thing would be to simply hold him out till Jan, take a couple of months to work out the kinks and work his way into the lineup, and then the Warriors won't lose a game in the playoffs

Yep. Boogie's post offense with the Warriors spacing is terrifying. People trying to downplay the acquisition are crazy.

Saw somewhere that he could have signed with a bad team for 1yr/10.

If that's true, I don't blame him for going to the Warriors.

I will try to find it.

Yeah, I don't blame him either. They're saying this morning that teams didn't want to make him serious offers because of the Achilles.

If you're going to have to have a "make good" year, may as well get a ring for it.

But they literally gave away all their cap space before they even had a chance to make an offer.

Plus, teams needed to realize, this was Boogie they were dealing with. He wasn't going to sit back and wait patiently. This is definitely his way of saying FU to the teams that went other directions.
