Entirely agree with that. I also believe that just becoming 'bowl eligible' shouldn't automatically put you in one. It should still be a privilege. Bowl appearances are handed out like participation trophies anymore. Play 3 scrubs, find a way to win 3 out of your remaining 9, and take your nearly automatic reward. Kind of a joke anymore to be honest.
Still, that's a different question from if everyone else is doing it should you self impose a ban. If some Pac12 team was offered and wanted to take it why should the league prevent it?
Too many bowl games anyway. Trim the list of bowl games down a bit and you get rid of this issue. You can still have a bunch of secondary bowl games that have decent opponents playing in them.
Heck, personally, I don't think even a 6-6 team should be in a bowl. I'm just against these types of "participation trophy" type bowl games. Rarely are they worth watching.
