PAC12 will not allow a 5-7 team to go to a Bowl Game.

What do the Pac12 guys, on this board, think about that?

I noticed though that they didn't demand all teams having a minimum of a break-even record.
A few years back, UCLA won the South with an overall record of 6-6 and got beat in the Pac12
title game, and went to a bowl game with a 6-7 record.

Pac-12 to require 6 wins for bowl eligibility

For a league that doesn't have that many bowl slots to fill, I'd think they'd want all they could get.

It's dumb, but so Pac12.

Turn down more revenue sharing for the conference? Turn down a chance for a school to get more practices (that they obviously need to get better if they finished 5-7 to begin with) and all that comes with it? For what? This notion that it's slightly embarrassing to see a sub .500 team representing your conference?

When your conference is so far behind in revenue because of your dipshit and entirely inept commissioner why on earth would you turn down any and every addition to the shared pool? It's just dumb.

Larry Scott is a moron.

Actually, I take that back. Calling Larry Scott a moron is an insult to morons.

Whatever is dumber than a moron...that's Larry Scott.

How the hell did he get to be commissioner anyway? Everyone knows you can't trust people with a 2 first names name.

I'm not sure how...but it's definitely UCLA's fault. I'm sure Oregon probably had a hand in it as well.

Well it was the full body of school presidents that voted it in after a small subcommittee of AD's lead by ours put it in front of them.

So Scott is exactly who they are. They actually like all of this stupidity.

5-7 teams dont belong in bowl games anyway. :trash:
Entirely agree with that. I also believe that just becoming 'bowl eligible' shouldn't automatically put you in one. It should still be a privilege. Bowl appearances are handed out like participation trophies anymore. Play 3 scrubs, find a way to win 3 out of your remaining 9, and take your nearly automatic reward. Kind of a joke anymore to be honest.

Still, that's a different question from if everyone else is doing it should you self impose a ban. If some Pac12 team was offered and wanted to take it why should the league prevent it?

More testosterone-fueled dumbassery by people who want to claim some form of moral/athletic superiority.

"We don't schedule FCS Schools!"
"We don't send 5-win teams to bowls!"
"We play 9 conference games cause they's gooderer!"

Well the first point, 2/3 of the conference plays FCS schools every year so it is fake bravado.

It should be an NCAA rule, but it can’t be because they can’t let bowl spots go unfilled. Why the PAC 12 wants to remove its teams from the running for those spots, the practices, and the revenue they bring is beyond me. But this is a conference led by morons who started a conference network and allowed it to not be carried in any form by the biggest satellite tv provider, for some bullshit reasons no one completely understands, then had to let ESPN and Fox bend them over and poke their metaphorical butthole because they couldn’t figure out why their network sucked.

So no real surprise...

In before someone says “based on last year’s bowl performance they shouldn’t let PAC teams with winning records into bowl games”.

This shit seriously pisses me off though. We sit back and watch the other major conferences take any advantage they can get, while the pac 12 does shit like this whenever they get the chance, and wonder why the only bowl win was a game they might not even be sending teams to anymore with this new rule.

The PAC and B1G are in a race to see who can amputate their head quicker.

At least internet dipshits can start threads trying to troll other conferences’ scheduling practices, while our conference digs itself deeper into the unnecessary pile of shit it created for itself.
