Kenny Vaccaro 'on his way out' of New Orleans
8451.jpg

New Orleans Times-Picayune's Larry Holder reports Saints DB Kenny Vaccaro is "likely on his way out" of New Orleans.

Vaccaro had his 2017 season ended early after being placed on injured reserve due to problems with his groin and wrist. The former first-round pick is now an unrestricted free agent and will likely sign a fairly big contract in free agency. The Cowboys were a team rumored to be interested in acquiring Vaccaro in the past
I really liked Vaccaro comin out of Texas in 2013. I thought he had great potential. So far he hasn't been overly impressive though, overall he's been an erratic playmaker. He had 1 good year in 2015, but since then his seasons have been marred by suspension (PEDs, 4 games in 2016) and injuries (groin & wrist in 2017).

He'd still be an upgrade over Mitchell. I just don't like the idea of overpaying the guy based on 1 year of good play. If I were Colbert I would pursue Boston and if that fails then call Vaccaro's agent to get a feel for his value based on what other teams are offering.

great site, IMHO the best for pre-draft

one of their recent mocks has us taking

–28. Pittsburgh Steelers — Ronnie Harrison, SS, Alabama

The Steelers have dealt with several issues in the back half of the defense all season, something that was obvious in the loss to the Jaguars. Adding a player with Harrison’s downhill speed and toughness would be a good start to rebuilding the Pittsburgh image on defense.

Drafting a SS would imply that Davis is moving to FS. Not a bad decision, but I still think the better options if they are wanting to draft a Safety are Fitzpatrick & Reid.

They can get Reid probably at 28. Fitzpatrick, unless something horrid goes on at the combine, is a top 10-15 pick.

Fitzpatrick should be out or our reach, but I've seen crazier things happen. Clinton-Dix IMO was a better prospect than Fitzpatrick, and he slid from his original projection of top 10 to pick 21. IMO if they go LB in Rd 1, I'd have my eyes on Justin Reid, Jessie Bates or Marcus Allen in Rd 2. Reid could fall, but it might require them trading up in the 2nd to get him.

Speaking of Clinton-Dix... Read this the other day. Very hypothetical but not a bad trade!
Steelers could trade Bryant to Packers for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

Popular pick right now seems to be Rashaan Evans from Bama. I've seen 4 or 5 mock drafts saying that's the pick. Some other names sprinkled around from other mock drafts are Malik Jefferson, Lamar Jackson and Leighton Vander Esch (Mel Kiper mock draft).

I would be behind that trade all day. Dix fills a hole (pun intended) and there'd be a clear path that we SHOULD take in the draft. I just can't get behind taking QB in the first, even if its Lamar Jackson. I honestly think a guy like Mason Rudolph would be a good fit here. But he's likely gone before we can get him and I'm not even sold we should be drafting a QB this year. I'd like to see what this Dobbs kid has.

The only possible scenario that I can see the Steelers drafting a QB this year would be IF one of the top 3 guys falls to us in Rd 1. Rosen, Darnold, or Allen. And there's probably a better chance that I would detect a fart in a hurricane from 100yds away...

I pray that they don't have their eyes on Jackson or Mayfield. Neither would fit in very well here. I don't think either would fit into or last very long in the cold-weather/smashmouth AFCN environments.

I have a feeling that Evans is going to drive up the draft boards after the combine. Basically the same scenario we had with Haason Reddick last year. Or Tak McKinley or WJ3. Evans could get grabbed right before us, leaving BPA at ILB as Vander-Esch.

I hate that feeling of "settling"... But Burns & Watt both turned out to be pretty good out the gate. Time will tell how good those returns will really be.

Well some players have defied the odds so its not a blanket negative... But it helps that he's one of the best pocket QBs with the best mobility and rarely gets hit because of it. Jackson hasn't proved to be the most cerebral QB in the draft which I think will create problems at the NFL level. I don't know enough about Mayfield, but I know he's a helluva competitor.

Keep hearing lots of good things about this kid. Haven't watched any tape yet, but sounds like a great sideline-to-sideline type player with a great head for the game. Being touted as one of the smartest linebackers in the draft. Great field awareness and diagnoses plays quicker & better than anyone in the draft pool.

Boy would I do this trade!!

GB needs more weapons, but can they give up Ha Ha? If they don't think they can pay him next yr, maybe they do.

In this draft...no way Fitz drops out of the top 10 (assuming no failed pee test, etc). Allen needs a good combine I think but most of these guys seem like they're going 35-55...maybe Reid is there at 60.

I tend to agree...unless this draft is very different for the past, 3 ILBs in the top 28 is a lot with all those QBs likely to go in the top 15. If Edmunds and Roquan Smith are off...Evans will probably be there at 28.

QB...28? I'm not the biggest Lamar Jackson guy as a pro...the arm talent is there...the only way I see a QB going 28 to PIT...they pull off the trade with GB for Ha Ha. and they think they can get Vander Esch at 60 or they move up to get him.

Could be a Steelers, however, everything I'm seeing says he isn't a 1st round projection. Some have him going in the 3rd. Is this a guy we can get in the 2nd round?
We will get a better feel for projections after the combine shakeup. Right now all we have are draft analysts predicting projections which only gets us so far. And outside the top 10-15 in the 1st Rd, the projections are anything but concrete.
