On the topic of "Teams in the KC race this off-season" this is a very interesting development:

Cardinals QB Palmer announces his retirement
Quarterback Carson Palmer has announced his retirement after completing his 15th year in the NFL.

Lol Wilson was the definition of carrying a team this year. Without a doubt a top 5 QB in the league IMO.

That tyrod description sounds kind of like a certain Redskins QB who might be playing in a new city next year...

You're right they do. So does Wilson. And cam. And every successful nfl QB. And that's also why I think Jackson can succeed...because hes mentally pretty well off for a college QB.

Yes...he carried them right to where the Redskins are...out of the playoffs.

That's a copout meaningless statement but sure

The offense is built on Jackson's skills. I think I posted an article about how Petrino came up with an offense outside of his normal stuff to take advantage of Jackson's abilities. There is a reason he through for over 3400 yards and rushed for 1500 yards or something like that. He is the offense

Oh for sure that offense is built around Jackson and uses a lot of designed runs with him and obviously teams will always be afraid of his running ability. Gk likes to claim that mobile qbs are only successful because of their mobility though with no actual thought given to what theyre doing as passers.

Name me ONE of these running QBs that has transitioned to a pocket passer since 1991?? Name me one aside from Cam Newton that has been able to avoid the blown knee, concussion bug?? IM going to give you Wilson as a bone. BUt the reality is, most of them have ended up injury prone failed experiments. And the two who has managed to remain relatively, Hell one weight more than me, and the other has had the benefit of a top defense and a top run game up until the last year or two.

How is it a cop Out? Everything goes through Jackson and his legs...even the passes because of the threat of his legs.

I would say you haven’t given much thought to what the run does to a defense. It brings the LBs, safeties, and corners up and in giving the pass catchers lanes that don’t and wont exist on the next level.

I will admit, if Jackson can avoid getting injured at this level, he might actually do well with his skill set. But that would also mean going to the right team with a strong locker room. But those are two HUGE ifs, and neither exist in Ashburn.

Its a copout because you use it to discredit anybody who can run at all.

When the best, most exciting season of redskins football in the last 25 years featured a QB with a similar skillset to Jackson. I can understand how some fans would think Jackson might be a worthy choice at QB.

Is not about discrediting his running ability. We all know, Jackson is fast, and he is exciting. The reality is, his game dosnt translate well to the NFL because he simply doesnt have the size of Newton. So most of us expect him to be yet another injury riddled running QB at this level.

Any thoughts of adding that to the Redskins in light of team history is a shear exercise in lunacy and an attempt to recreate 2012. Both being very bad ideas.

I don't know what to tell ya dude. The only person on this board constantly bringing up Griffin ain't me...

I wasn't saying it was about discrediting his rushing. It's about discrediting his passing. His game translates if he can be an nfl passer. That's it. That's all we need to worry about.

Its lunacy to be deathly afraid of prospects just because you got hurt once and can't get over it.

shark has given you history and history is not on the side of Jackson. I have not watched him a lot. In the game I watched he lacked accuracy, pulled the ball down at the first hint of trouble and locked on a lot of receivers. He did try throwing into a couple of tight windows and they quickly became turnovers. As was pointed out during the game he has mechanical flaws in his throwing motion.

So he has arm strength and great athleticism on his side. He clearly is a project though. Analysts during and after the game say he would be well served to have another year at the college level. His slender build has some worried.

I know that there have been comparisons to Robert Griffin. I don't think those are entirely fair. Griffin was a better passer - better completion percentage and more yards as well at running for less than half the yards that Jackson has run for. After the bowl games update stats for Jackson are 59% completion percentage, 3600 passing yards, 1600 rushing yards. In Griffin's senior season he had 4200 passing yards, 70% completion and 700 yards rushing. I think the comparisons with Griffin come about because he bombed so badly.

I don't want to say Jackson can't work in the NFL. Clearly the guy has some skills. Like I said to you last year about Mahomes ending up with a good coach will mean a lot to him.

Not sure why you keep bringing up Allen as a comparison. they are not like QBs at all. I like Mayfield best but others don't. His size and temperament have some worried. I don't see any sure QBs this year and I see where each has strengths and weaknesses. Depending on what the Skins do I would say if they let Cousin's go then take a QB you like if he falls to you but no more hero moves like 6 years ago where give three No. 1's and a second to get a guy who clearly had star/bust potential written all over him.
