not giving them a game with Mercer first is cruel

It's actually just the same exact complaint Pac12 coaches make about the "PAC After Dark games". Late night game where they didn't get out of the stadium until like 1am, had to spend the night in NO, and then have to spend the next day traveling instead of getting ready for a game a week away.

Normally these things are given more days between games, but not this year. Even Pac after Dark games try to accommodate some with extra rest time it generally seems like.

FYI - Pac12 coaches bitch about this same thing often, except nobody cares.

Say what? You're just making up shit now. Oregon started doing the up tempo back in 2001. Thats sixteen years ago.
Alabamas played one game since Nov.25. He's just bitching just to bitch.

LOL. Yeah exact same thing. Mercer after dark. Nightmares.
Let me know when Alabama goes to Mercer on a Friday after Mercer had the week off . Totally different Mercer.

It is kind of stupid to wait a month or more and then play back to back weeks. Hell Bama had more time off then Summer camp.

You're clueless by the way. The complaint about Friday night games is you play a team at their home who sometimes has had a bye the week before and your team had a short week. Not what time you finish the game. Its a Friday night game. You don't get less time to prepare or get healthy for the next weeks game.

Mercer after Dark > Oregon St after Dark

How would you know? Ever played an OOC game at a teams house?
Oregon State has been ranked three times since 2006. Mercer?

Well if we are going back to 2006, it would be quite easy for me to find OOC road games.

I'm guessing you were looking for a double standard though.

So you wanna play the semifinal games on Christmas Day instead?

At most you could make the Saturday before New Year semifinal day. That would have been Dec 30th this year and would have given the teams in the final 9 days between games instead of 7 days. Move a couple of the games that were played on Dec 30th (Cotton, Orange, Fiesta) to Jan 1st instead.

Of course that means the Rose Bowl can never be a CFP semifinal.

Everyone is focusing on the first part of his statement...but this is at the heart of the matter IMHO. While I agree with Saban (and Petersen on the PAC 12 after dark stuff for that matter), I find it strange that both he and Petersen (and their universities and conferences) are now complaining about something both have benefitted from when their conferences/schools sold out to the media long, long ago. The conferences/schools agreed to let the media/tv decide who, when and what time they get fucked by accepting their money/conditions. No one to blame but themselves for selling EVERYTHING out to the almighty dollar.

"Someone has to think about the players," Saban said, "and not what's convenient for the media or TV."

Sorry Nick, you and your ilk gave up the authority to decide these things back in your money grab agreements with the media. Guess you'll get the chance to renegotiate those terms when the contract is over.

Probably what needs to be done because they aren't going to let go of that Monday night slot.

Don't even remotely care. But they could use a little foresight and schedule them when it's not at the minimum time length. Like when the game was on the 12th in 2014 - wouldn't be an issue at all. Even the 11th or 10th would have been fine in those years.

No , please. Go back to 2006 and your one road OOC game. Is that how far back you have to go to find one? Is that what you're saying? Eleven years and you can find one back in 2006? Uno?

Saban was looking for authority to decide these things? Or was even expecting any change to happen?

The only possible teams to benefit from anything that would come from these comments are future national championship playing teams. ALL OF THEM.

Well I really only need to go back to like 2010 or 2011 when it was either @ Duke, or @ Penn St.

But hey, you can still cry more if you want.

I'd actually prefer to go back to having the Rose Bowl as a Big Ten vs Pac-12 game.

It was total bullshit that the game was limited to those 2 conferences, but I don't give a shit - it's a meaningless game now and no longer blocks #1 and #2. You guys can circle jerk it all you want.

The funny part is, that bowl game had the opportunity to become THE national championship bowl every year and it traded it off for wooden nickles.
