Try to stay on topic. What does the depth chart at SC next year have to do with Darnold's horrendous performance tonight? For that matter, what does it have to do with the coaching staff's inept performance tonight?
There is a time to be aggressive on defense but protecting a 14-point 4th quarter lead with 5 minutes to go is not that time.
Most of Darnold's horrendous performance has to do with a Buckeye D line that would not allow him the time to set, go through his reads, etc. Hats off to the Buckeyes. With all of that said, the one bright side of all of this is maybe Darnold will see he needs another year of polish and comes back. If not, welcome to Cleveland, and enjoy the trip to the land of QB obscurity.

I thought the USC D played really well given the circumstances...It's slightly demoralizing when your offense coughs up the ball on half their possessions. It is especially bad when you give them a short field.

Kudos for showing some back bone and not letting this one get away from you, this had all the hallmarks of a blowout at half time and you guys stayed in the fight.

My only coaching complaint was that USC did not seem to make many adjustments to deal with Ohio State's defensive line. Whether through play calling or protection.

Yes, the ref seemed to let a lot of shit go...but that's how SEC refs roll. I figure it is just punishment for foisting PAC-12 refs on the rest of the bowl community.
Yep, I though our D played fine. That Ohio State defense is filled with beasts with speed. Quite impressive.

buckeye D-line absolutely embarrassed the trojan o-line. even when they called plays with darnold rolling out, he was immediately being chased from different angles, i honestly believe OSU's proficiency at rushing the passer caught them off guard, they didn't expect to get ragdolled like they did.

Bosa in particular is a beast. Are they going to let him play all the snaps next year, or is he still so young their going to continue to let him take naps during recess.

Even when they went almost exclusively to a 4 man rush it was surprising how much rush they were getting. I didn't think USC helped themselves out with the play calling though.

Hey, good game to the resptable usc fans.

@trojanfan12.

I’m going to make you wear a pecker loving avi, but I’ll wear one of you choice for a week in March just for you not being a huge faggot like @Great Dayne

Congrats on winning the bet and Congrats to the Buckeyes.

I thought both defenses played great. Our offense looked like shit and when you turn the ball over 4 times, you're not beating a team like tOSU.

Offensive line has been a weakness all season and the Buckeyes exploited the shit out of that.

Yeah, the Buckeyes came in averaging almost 600 yards per game and our defense held them to 277. USC outgained them and had the ball longer. The difference was, our defense got stops, their defense forced turnovers. Those 8 sacks the o-line gave up didn't help either.

With Holmes, Lewis, and Hubbard off to the NFL, Bosa will be fully unleashed next year. Another name to get to know is Chase Young. There's a good chance both of these guys are top 5 NFL picks, in back-to-back years.

and it all added up to a 17-point deficit; more than one way to win a football game.

good game, though :suds:

can you hook us up with a snapshot of the receiver pushing off before that?

but no no, i get it. had they thrown the flag there, USC totally comes back from a million turnovers and dominates in a win, totally.

Just one of many missed calls. But Noooo I get it steeler fan most likely a penn st. Pulling for a conference win. Not saying they win but all these missed calls you put them all together and they continue down the field. After this missed PI they get a sack. So yeah you are right not dominating but think they’ve get back in the game.

CONGRATS to the Buckeyes! Their "D" put the Friday Night whammy on SC's offense, that's for sure.

At least the SC "D" showed up to play, for much of the game anyway... The "O", not so much. :tsk:

Incorrect. I'm a buckeye fan, but nice assumption on your part, inspector clouseau. just admit that you had no idea how good OSU's defense was and it completely overwhelmed you as a fan, even moreso than the USC team itself. To compensate, you start throwing around "refs this" and "refs that" to soothe your butthurt ego.

Ok great dayne. :L Continue complaining to complain.I'm just going to be happy SC had a great season and won a PAC championship. And give Ohio State respect for having a great team
Fair enough. We differ on the definition of "great" I guess. SC was more like an 8 and 6 team than 11 and 3. They got extremely lucky in a bunch of games where they under-performed. Its hard for a "homer" to see this but if he looks objectively at it he can see its true.

Correct. That question was pointless.

Coaching staff OK? Have you seen how many games, when protecting a nice 4th quarter lead, they leave their Corners in man coverage with no help letting the other team score quickly? Did you see anything they tried to do differently to offset that pass rush tonight; anything at all? Did you see anything they tried differently as Notre Dame was dominating them? Anything at all to stop Washington State?

When the original game plan is not working, they are unable to make in-game changes. They depend strictly on having better athletes than the opposition. When that does not happen, like against ND and OSU, you see the results. I'll wait to give you time to come up with something.

It's hard to make adjustment when the defense comes up the middle and from the left and the right. I suppose they could go to a 4 man backfield like the good old days, but that does tend to limit the passing game.

There is no sense in him staying at USC for another year. It's not really his fault. Behind a decent O line he could be great. Without it, he'll get killed.

If he goes to Cleveland, FedEx will be mailing whatever is left over back to California at the end of the season.

Their D Line did dominate but a lot of that was because of the ineptness of the coaching staff and its inability to even try anything to counter that blitz. They just kept pounding their heads against the wall trying the same old thing.

Thank you for everything JT but goddamn I am ready for Haskins.

Here's a potential problem with Haskins. He throws a hard ball. Those are the types of passes that can bounce off a receiver's hands and be intercepted. I would have liked to see him run a little more also.
