That comparison aside... the plain fact(s) of the matter regarding Kaep and the hardships he has had getting signed this year are:

1.) If talent and ability were the only considerations, Kaep would almost certainly be on a NFL team in at least a back up capacity this season.
2.) Unfortunately for Kaep and his defenders, talent and ability are not the only considerations. Guy is a circus of controversy at this point... and any sane NFL team doesn't want to put up with that circus in a trade off for a slight upgrade in QB depth.

Here is the problem for DC: Superman sucks. Any movie with him in it becomes less interesting as a result. He peaked somewhere between 65 and 35 years ago.

Superman is a problematic character because you can't really defeat God.

He wasn't always as God like as he has been portrayed in the last 40 years or so.

Mad respect for LeBron for coming out and saying Kaepernick is getting black-balled and it's wrong.

Kaepernick isn't getting blackballed because of his politics/protest. Kaepernick is getting blackballed because he's a backup quarterback who draws too much attention to himself and is therefore a distraction. Coaches, especially NFL coaches, hate distractions more than anything. It's essentially the same reason Tim Tebow isn't a backup anywhere.

Tebow wasn't good. That's why he didn't have a job. Kap at least has a track record of success with the numbers to back them up. He's more one-dimentional that most quarterbacks, but also has many more facets to his gamel than Tebow. So it's not a fair comparison in my opinion.

I could really go either way on the whole Kap situation. I think that he deserves a job on talent, but at this point he's a major distraction. But there has been a history of players who have done far worse in life than kneel in protest during the national anthem that have been given more shots to play again.

Based on that, I'd say Kap deserves at least one shot to be back in the league. If he falters then based on his talent, I'd have no problems with teams keeping him out.

Something is going on. Here are a few examples of QB's in the league right now.

Texans: Josh Johnson (last on a roster in '13 for Cincy & hasn't thrown an NFL pass since '11) 0-5 career record
Seahawks: Austin Davis (last played for Cleveland in '15) 3-7 career record
Ravens: David Fales (last year attempted 5 passes) 0-0 career record

Three QB's & a total of 15 career starts. Kaepernick started 58 games going 28-30.

Given Hundley's performance yesterday I think Green Bay will be looking for a QB this week, Kap would be better than Hundley IMO.

This fact misses the point, IMHO, because there is perhaps no one in Kaep's league when it comes to being a political lightning rod with the potential to cause a NFL franchise loss in seats/sales/$$$ with a substantial fan backlash.

Right or wrong, that's the baggage Kaep brings with him.

Yeah, from a pure football standpoint... Kaep is better than all those bums... and if there was nothing else to factor into the equation... Kaep would almost certainly get the nod over any of them.

We are left with 2 possible explanations for Kaep being left out...

1.) The owners are actively colluding to keep him out as pay back for the kneeling
2.) The owners have each individually done a cost/benefit analysis on the +'s and -'s of bringing Kaep in... and each determined that the negatives outweight the positives.

Obviously, none of knows for sure because we aren't part of the NFL ownership cabal... but count me firmly in the #2 camp. Why? Because even from the outside looking in, a simple cost/benefit analysis shows that Kaep would be more trouble than he is worth. And it's not even close, IMO.

So if option #2 clearly and neatly explains the situation... why theorize some conspiracy apart from that? Occam's razor.

Totally understand that from a business stand point. Just from a morality stand point, it seems weird to take a stand on this issue being the one that makes a player unemployable.

If Kaep were a starting caliber QB, he would have a job despite the controversy. He isn't, so he doesn't. It is as simple as that.

His career statistics are largely skewed by early career success. He isn't nearly as good as he was when he first earned the starting job.

Every player's employability is determined by the balance between their off-field risk and their on field ability. Kaepernick's on field ability isn't worth enough to offset the fact that he is wildly unpopular with a large percentage of viewers. If he were a better player, he would have a job regardless of his political views, and fans would be more forgiving also.

Especially when guys like Drew Stanton (sucks major ass), Blaine Gabbert, Nathan Peterman (LOL), Charlie Whutehurst, among others all have jobs as backup QB's.

Actually, I doubt they will....Hundley faced some good defenses in Minny, NO, Chicago, and Baltimore. They will just stick with him and stay the course.

They face

@Pitt
@Tampa
Cleveland
@Carolina
Minny
@Detroit

Rodgers could be back by Carolina.....he's without pain and just waiting for it to heal.

If they go 2-1 in their next 3 (very possible) they will be 7-6 when Rodgers could return and be in the middle of the WC hunt.

Okay so he's not NFL starting material. What about being a back up? You mean to tell me that some of shit back up's in the league right now deserve to be there over him? In my # 3328 comment I mentioned 3 back up QB's that simply have no business being on an NFL roster.
