The ACC was down back when Clemson was still Clemsoning and Bobby Bowden needed to retire, and Miami fell off. Virginia Tech was really the only consistently good team during the 00's. There were some pretty random conference champs on the VA Tech down years IIRC. Not on the level as the Big East when fucking UCONN got a spot in a BCS bowl for winning the conference, but still.

I don't think the Tommy Bowden era Clemson teams were an example of "Clemsoning", even though that era is probably where the term originated. Clemson was just a meh program with him.

Mid-to-late 2000s ACC was a weird place. FSU was down, Miami went through a decade long tailspin, Clemson had Tommy Bowden as their coach, GT had five loss Chan and VT's OC held them back.

Wake's the only NC football program that has won the ACC since 1990.

What do you mean back when Clemson was still Clemsoning, they Clemsoned just the other week, lol.

If you say so. I guess you could call Pitt last season Clemsoning, but it still seemed to work out for them. I give them a bit of a pass because the QB was hurt going into the game and was injured before the end of the first half. Plus the Carrier Dome is a lot like Pullman. Weird things tend to happen there.

You wanted him to lose to Michigan State?
of course not. Does any team want to lose any game? Is it realistic to expect no losses ever (unless you're an Alabama fan)?

Hoke looks surprisingly good for his age. He has to at least be pushing 90 by now if that's the case.
Hoke was the D-line coach for the '97 national championship game.

And Dontanio went on to win the B1G 3 times as HC. Better than Home and Harbs
Dantonio didn't win the B10 until year 4 at MSU, and it also took the B10 being terrible to do so. Just to refresh everyone's memory, the B10 finished with 3 ranked teams that year (MSU being one of them). OSU and Wisconsin were the other two. Sparty beat 1 single team that finished ranked and then got dominated in the sugar bowl by Bama. They didn't play Ohio State at all that season. It took another 4 years to win his second.

Harbaugh entering the B10 right now is a little different than Dantonio dominating a bad conference at the time. Now, for sure, Dantonio has done some great things in his total time there and has won some very legitimate B10 titles against tough competition. But it's taken him a long time to build that up and he's also had at least 5 seasons where they haven't reached the 10 win mark. Sometimes good coaches have bad years -- see Dantonio's 3-9 season just last year, 10 years in.

What is bullshit?

Their records ARE the same to this point.

Both had good seasons to start their careers, only to watch them trail off over a few years. And the quality of recruiting has remained about the same between both of them.

But I am talking to the same people who thought they stole Nuss from Alabama, so not surprised.
The records are the same at this exact point, but we're only halfway into a season. Hoke almost lost all of the games remaining that 3rd year. And as pointed out, there's no comparison between the qualify of teams put on the field. Hoke had one good year, followed by 3 really bad ones. Harbaugh had 2 good years, followed by what seems to be unfolding as an average one. But even in this average season, our defense is fantastic. Something you could never say about either side of the ball under Hoke in any year.

No Michigan State didn't play Ohio State that year. They did play Wisconsin and beat them and Wisconsin beat Ohio State. That was not a very good year for Ohio State even with them using ineligible players for a third of the season.

And Harbaugh starting out at Michigan is no where close to Dantonio starting out at Michigan's State. Harbaugh's Michigan was an NFL team compared to Dantonio's Michigan a state team he was handed. Harbaugh had I believe 13 NFL players on that team SO FAR, compared to like 4 or 5 at Michigan State.

Speaking of rankings, I just checked the AP rankings. They must have forgotten that Jimbo Khaki Pants was Michigan's coach because I didn't see them on the list. . .

What gives, Maize?

But, dude, that stuff doesn't fit the Harbaugh is the greatest coach ever and way better than Dantonio narrative. Get with the program, Samurai.

Can we say that the only reason Harbaugh has looked good is because the B1G was down last year, they only had four ranked teams including Michigan? Or does that one additional ranked team suddenly make the B1G a dominant force?

The easy B10 more than compensated for the lack of 4 star players.

Based on the bowl the bowl performance and how bad the bottom is, was the B1G any good last year? All signs point to no.

Always an excuse. One coach had 4 and 5 start recruits and the other didnt. But Dantonio was still able to beat the in state rival in his 2nd year. And 3rd. And 4th. And 5th. Well you get the picture. One is better, that is all.

As did almost every other team during those years....Dantonio didn't have to find a way, he beat Michigan just like everyone else was. It was handed to him on a platter.

By Michigan sucking. It's not like Dantonio had to earn most of those wins. He just beat a bad Michigan team, like everyone else during that stretch. Note -- the best teams he faced (2007, 2012) he lost.

To his credit, he's done well against Harbaugh. But one of those wins required a minor miracle.

And the minor miracle is because Harbaugh fucked up the entire last series. He couldn't have coached it any worse than he actually did.

Typical loser mentality. You didnt beat us, we just gave you the game...

Was 2011 one of those years that MI just handed the game to MSU?

OL is never an issue at ND. Yeah you've picked off all the Catholic boys from Ohio recently so you'll be fine. Think Adams leaves early?

Agreed, even though we played Notre Dame when they weren't their best, their OL just looked like how an OL should look. I would kill to have their OL at Texas almost any year. We just don't grow em like that down here. The midwest is where the OL recruits are at. I wish our coaches would realize that. All our tall kids want to be pitchers and QB's in Texas. I also think the wrestling popularity of the midwest helps create great OLineman.
