Redwings made two trades
Sheahan to the Pens for Scott Wilson and a pick
And an AHL swap Sproul for Puempel.

That Pens trade was in the works for a while. Wilson was a fan favorite but really no room for him. Glad he will play in Detroit. Sheahan is a huge upgrade over McKegg and Rowney.
Does that gain then any salary space? They have none, and need to make room for AA

Yeah it frees up space for Detroit.
Wilson - $650,000
Sheahan - $2,075,000
The difference covers the $1,390,000 of his contract.

Bobby Ryan sounds like he has a broken finger, again. Sigh. Finally healthy, comes into the season playing awesome and hurts his hand yet again. This guy has no luck. Injuries piling up for the Sens up front.

For a second there I heard Senators player, broken finger and first thought was Sydney Crosby.
And, sadly, it was from a shot by an ex Penguin... :L

Those Golden Knights continue to win. Just when you think they'll cool off they get a win. Impressive start thus far for them.

I've noticed. Getting some breaks and a 7 game homestand helps.

Black Hawks up next. Subban probably out for a couple weeks.
Oscar Dansk in net, should be interesting. After letting in a goal on first shot faced, he played pretty well.

The guy throwing punches is wearing a Borowiecki jersey...Wait a minute, was it Mark Borowiecki?!?

I hope it was Boro because that idiot is now surely banned from the Canadian Tire Centre.

I watched Dasnk a lot when he was down here for camp. So much potential, but seems to have a tendency to miss one bad one a game. It's about damage control for him.

No just someone stupid enough to pay $150 for a Mark Borowiecky jersey, which explains a lot.

Let's be fair, it was a "convict" third and Boro. Likely clearance. Probably 75.

Weekend hockey conversation included the following question:

When was the last true bench clearing fight in the NHL?

Not a scrum that develops at the end of a period, but one where somebody goes over the boards and empties the benches?

I cannot recall the last time I saw one.

Anyone know?

Not sure what that is supposed to mean but just to be clear I don't think those fights are caused solely by Leafs fans. Far from it. As evidenced by Saturday's incident, the home team fans can be every bit as stupid as any visitors. That being said the Leafs fans that travel to Montreal and Ottawa are, let's say, special. I've been to games in Toronto and it's two VERY different demographics. The guys who show up in Ottawa and Montreal are often from small town Ontario (and northern often) in Ottawa and the Maritimes and small town Ontario (a lot from Cornwall) in Montreal. As I said a lot of them are "special". In a count your teeth on one hand kind of special kind of way. But the instigators of the actual fights come from many sides. Many sides.

Cool story bro time. Back in the late 90s, just as the Sens were getting decent and were not yet rivals with the Leafs I was at a game. About 6-7 rows down from me were two Leafs fans who were getting more and more drunk as the game went on. Not being aggressive but getting louder and a bit obnoxious (spilling beer on people, standing up during game play for no reason, etc.). Just drunk. At one point this guy in the row behind them asked them to chill the fuck out. This guy was scary looking. Might have been 45 but was probably actually 35 years of rough living. 6'3, 220 looked like a tradesman type who probably smoked 2 packs a day but was still in pretty damn good shape. He looked the perfect stereotype of a former junior B goon. For some reason one of these drunken fools told him to piss off; they paid for their tickets. Liquid courage I guess. Before anyone could blink this guy just starts raining punches on one of them (then the other). He must have thrown 80 punches at the two of them.

To this day I remember it as clear as day even though I'd had a few wobbly pops myself. A few things about the incident still baffle me though:

1) Drunk or not, I cannot imagine what possessed that soused up idiot to mouth off at this guy. He was a picture postcard of a shit kicker.

2) I don't know how that first guy who mouthed off walked out of there. It looked like that time Rob Ray wailed on the fan that ran at the Sabres bench. That kid could take a punch or 50.

3) I have no idea whether the ass kicker was a Leafs fan or a Sens fan because he was wearing a Steve Larmer Blackhawks jersey to a Sens-Leafs game. :L
