But i do think for now on in baseball(unless restrictions are created) we should only allow players from 1920- current... Pre 1920 players are impossible to analyze because baseball was too different back then...

That's absurd. I enjoy picking older players. If we only ho by guys you actually saw play, we'll never use anyone before 1990

might as well eliminate 1988 through 2007 as well, it was way different during that era as well. its like the exact opposite all juiced and baseball year round without 2nd jobs. lol

but the point is that it is not significantly better... In fact ratio stats get worse the more you play, so if berkman played as long as Thomas did the numbers would be even less significant and likely not even noticeable...

And again, resting players in baseball is one of the last things you want to do, baseball is a game of rhythm, why mess with it??

So I should start a player because his stas aren't significantly worse? Or I should predict what he'd do right now as a 39 year old if he hadn't hung it up a couple years ago? Or I should just pretend that Thomas isn't a lesser hitter,(against righties)fielder and baserunner and make less use of all the roster spots available?

I'm not resting players here, I'm starting the group who create the best opportunity to score runs. Which I based off Berkman increasing most every team stat by starting over The Big Hurt against righties. (Not over him being a six time All Star to FTs 5. Or his career high in homers being 45 to FTs 43, or his career high in doubles being 55 to FTs 46.)

Interesting read. Starting Prince and Berkman over Edgar and Frank? Hmmm
