Actually this teams record is about where I thought it would be after 4 games, but this is not the team i thought i would see. I really thought that absolutely the only way this team could win a game was squarely on Matthew Stafford. But throuhh 4 games Stafford has been solid but unspectacular, meanwhile this defense with mostly the same players as last year has been amazing. I don't know how they're doing it, but this defense is carrying this team.

I agree, defense has been great. I thought Stafford was terrific against Arizona and good against NY. Thought he had a rough day yesterday. Felt he hung in the pocket too long on occasion. Our WR core and running game is rough. Hopefully AA is starting to come around.

Defensive YAC seems to really stand out to me. Could be wrong but I don't remember a Lions team that tackled this well, maybe in my life. Yards after contact has to be low, seems like when they get to the ball they are wrapping up and not letting go. Not seeing nearly as much throwing there bodies at the ball carrier, all seem to have grasped the concept of form tackling. Look faster than past years and definitely more opportunistic, creating turnovers instead of hoping a ball will come lose. Lot of helmets and fists hitting the football on contact.

The defense has looked good, but got shredded by the one legit offense it's faced so far. 3-1 is nothing new for this franchise. 3-1 becoming 3-5 isn't either.

I didn't do wins and losses this year... picked the Lions to win the Division an a Playoff game. I don't know of anyone else on this broad that has given the Lions a winning season... going against the grain would make us unique.

The Lions have started off 6-2 in the half of the season 3 times since 2007 and made the playoffs twice. They've also started off 1-7 until Martha Ford put their jobs on the line in 2015, which they finished 6-2. One thing I haven't noticed yet are the ticky-tack fouls called on the Lions.

Never could figure out that whole with the grain/against the grain thing.... @Thruthefog might have, though.

Of course, if there is more and more of us that went against the grain, does that eliminate the whole unique thing? Or, perhaps, the grain runs differently?

+9 in the turnover category thru 4 games is huge....Idt they will stay on that kind of pace for 16 games...they would be something crazy like +36...the OFC is top 10...if they can stay up there...25 pts a gm...they can ride this great start to the big dance.
