Actually RCR laid off a bunch of people 2 weeks ago, which is about when the Menard was leaving news broke. The strong rumor is that they will only be a 2 car team next year with Austin Dillon and Newman.

Richard has said he's focused on having a 3 car team for next season, but with the loss of basically a full time sponsor tied to Menard, that might be hard to do.

That's what I am thinking. Unless Richard can find another driver with a rich daddy, I believe we will only see 2 RCR car's next season. Wouldn't surprise me to then see Newman retire at the end of 2018 and Ty get the #31.

Who's that Busch series driver who is an heir to a watermelon fortune?

Honestly, with the way things are looking right now they may have a hard time getting more than 36 or 37 cars for most races next season. The 77 and 27 are both in trouble. SHR has had continual issues with lack of sponsorship, so they may have to downsize a car. The 5 is losing its top two sponsors, and despite the win at Indy it hasn't been competitive most weeks.

Had no idea nascar was trying something new this weekend by having qualifying the same day as the race

The decision on who needs to go in that organization should be pretty easy to make if it comes to it.

The death throes are manifesting themselves in NASCAR with sponsors leaving and not returning like Target's announcing this week that they are leaving all racing for good. This series has been on a steady decline since Brian France Jr. has been running this dog and pony show.

This sport has not recovered and when icons like The King finally leave, the acceleration of losing cars in the field will just continue until they just stop racing all those dates. Who wants to spend any amount of time and money watching this crap!!

Nascar began a slow death after February 18th, 2001.

Fun fact, Danica is one of only 2 drivers to finish in the top 15 or better in each of the last 4 races. Harvick is the other.

Cool, good for her. I don't wish her any ill will, but clearly she sticks around mostly for reasons other than driving talent. I get it; they're all in this business to make money and sell products.

Truex takes the Glen in another boring race.
Sucks to hear about the lack of excitement. Road courses were usually the ones I enjoyed watching the most.
