It's a lot of those reasons why I think he's going to end up well short of the 7/175 he allegedly is targeting.

It all depends on what he does for the rest of the season actually.

If he pitches well, and the team does equally, then he'll get a king's ransom. It's all depends on what goes on from Aug-Oct.

Remember we got Rios on a waiver deal, and I bet Cashner would.
Ironically as it sounds coming from me, I think Cashner has pitched too well for a team to let him slide through. Of course, I have been wrong about him before so what do I know.

I would be less surprised if Gomez slid through, but I wouldn't expect either of them to.

Poor baby. Time for him to play, and play on a consistent bases, produce and he can take care of his own future.

Sorry, but I'm a little fatigued with this crap.
Me too. Perform at the major league level and increase your trade value. Right now it's zilch.

We will eventually give Profar away for less than we got for Lucroy and then he will go somewhere and play everyday and be a really good player for 8-10 years.

Trade of Yu Darvish closes the Rangers' window; how long before it opens again?

"We've traded a number [of prospects], we've graduated a number [to the majors]," Daniels said. "We're strong at the lower levels. Our upper levels, we certainly have some players, but not where we want to be and where we will be very quickly. I think when you have the kind of people in systems that our development and scouting systems have, I'm pretty confident that it will look very different very quickly."

I am glad JD is confident because i know I am not.

Winter is coming. They don't have a center fielder for next year. Maybe Willie Calhoun, the most talented player they acquired from Los Angeles, will be the left fielder, but if he is, the outfield defense is once again going to be a problem.

The bullpen needs refurbishing, at the least. The first baseman is a statistical freak who might just become the first player ever to hit less than .200 for a season with an OPS above .800, and who knows how to judge that. The second baseman is a mystery of epic proportions.

That second baseman could be traded and that would help.

The Rangers are going to be a mere three starting pitchers shy of a rotation when winter arrives. Darvish is already gone, almost certainly not re-signing with the Rangers, and Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross are both free agents. They aren't going to come from the top tier of free-agent pitchers; that was made certain when the Rangers passed on negotiating an extension for Darvish. And their replacements aren't going to come from within the minor league system because the upper levels are thin, if not barren.

Which is why it is important for the Rangers to stock up on as much inventory as possible.

And that is why I wanted to see several more players dealt yesterday.

Had to laugh at them listing Calhoun as a 1B/DH. DH yes. Can't see a guy 5'8" playing 1B.

You remember Steve Garvey? Listed at 5'10"...Met him...At best he was that.

Terrific 1st baseman. Won 4 GG, 10x AS.

Yea. I heard that the 5'8" was being generous. Some are is saying closer to 5'6". I mentioned moving Odor to outfield before the season starting. Posters on here said he wasn't tall enough. So it's good for first base but not the outfield.

When you need so much how can JD make that statement? :noidea:

IDK, he must think he wont have to sell off everyone under contract and he will be able to land enough FA pitching to keep the team competitive but I just don't see it. That is what he is paid to do though, so he either does it or ownership may try and find someone who can.
