Toronto is going nowhere fast -- I wouldn't blame Ujiri if he left.

Jackson should just retire to his Montana ranch.

This could be good job for a GM to turn around the franchise but Dolan makes it difficult for somebody like Griffin to seriously consider it if he got offered the job.

lol @theKnicks.

Phil is right, they do need to move on from Melo.

After all of the stupid shit that Phil has done as GM...Dolan wants to get rid of him over one of the only 2 things that he's actually been right about since he was hired.

Dolan will probably bring back Isaiah Thomas.

Like the Knicks are going to do much better? They have been a DISASTER of an organization since the 90s.

Which is inexcusable with a big market like NY.

Not so easy....Carmello has a no trade, and has been pretty consistent in saying he aint going nowhere

This doesn't change the fact that Phil is right and it's time for the Knicks to move on from Melo. The only thing the NTC means is that they may have to wait until the end of the contract to do it if they can't find a trade that Melo will accept.

My guess would be that he would be willing to go to a contender if a deal could be worked out. The problem is, I can't think of one that would take him and there aren't really any playoff teams that become contenders if they add him.

I think Mello would be a better fit on Cleveland than Love....The one and only thing Mello could still do is score, especially on a team that wouldnt have too much defensive focus on him, and in that Finals, Cleveland was desperate for a 3rd scorer behind Kyrie and Bron

I disagree. Melo is basically Kevin Love minus the rebounds. Love is also a better passer.

The problem with adding Melo is that you have now have 3 ball dominant players (Lebron, Kyrie and Melo) and 2 of those players are ball dominant iso players (Kyrie and Melo). I just don't see Melo fitting in any better and maybe worse.

At least with Love, when he gets the ball, he either shoots or passes. Melo doesn't. He gets it and holds it for 10-15 seconds trying to get his shot off.

Love's problem isn't that he suddenly forgot how to play or how to shoot. The problem is that, with Lebron and Kyrie, he doesn't get enough shots to establish a rhythm. If he were in an offense like the Warriors, I think he'd perform much better.

Love shoots and misses a lot more than Mello would.......I think this finals should have exposed Love as more of a liability than an asset to a title contending team

Exactly -- except you presumably get paid more, get to start from scratch (sort of), have a rising young star in Porzingis, and get to work in New York instead of Toronto.

Yes, and as much as it doesnt seem so now, if the Knicks were to ever show signs of being on the rise, ej - Porzingas and this French kid look like building blocks, getting stars to NY will be a lot easier than in Toronto

It isn't that Phil was wrong about moving Melo. It's publicly bashing him that made no sense. Calling him selfish and not a team player is not how you trade a guy.

That's because he is rarely able to establish a rhythm because he doesn't get enough shots to develop one. He has shown throughout his time in Cleveland, when he gets the shots to develop a rhythm, he can be quite effective. The Cavs just haven't been able to find a balance between getting him enough shots to develop a rhythm and Kyrie and Lebron being able to do their thing.

If he were on the Warriors or Spurs, I think he'd be much more of a factor because of how those teams move the ball and keep everyone involved.
