Wrong. I tell people all the time I'm not going to sell them something or get the fuck out of my store.

I just don't tell them why

Bwah! This guy gets it...

Certain types of discrimination happen all the time, but they're often hard to prove because they're so subtle. A perfect example is the real estate market here in New York. People get rejected for apartments all the time because of their skin color, ethnic background, or whether or not they have children...but unless you've got a recording of the landlord saying "You don't get it because you're black, muslim, and have six kids" then you can't do a damn thing about it.

But most landlords are smart enough not to ever go on record with these kinds of statements, because "hey, there's a law!"

Yeah, the commerce clause loophole.

I understand how it works.

It's kind of like how they justify Obamacare as a tax or whatever.

This is why I try to stay away from the poltics forum.

LOL.In other words you're still clueless.

You do realize you live in America right? You're cool with a no Blacks allowed sing in front of a restaurant? You're a sad sad man if you are. And the whole then dont go there is you're answer then your parents did a poor job and your school did a poor job.
You do realize you're in America, right? If a person takes their own money and uses their own time and effort to build a private business, it's their right to run it however they want. They'll go out of business quickly and become pariahs, but it's their right, and nothing ever should change that.

They don't have a right to refuse to serve a person because of race. It's the law and nothing should ever change that.

Ok, so one state follows their right to laws that protect the religious centered policy they find acceptable and another follows their right to protest ideology they don't agree with by not spending their money there.

Neither are unreasonable.

You have the right to set your own laws, and they have the right to withhold state funds for whatever they want.

Where's the problem here? :noidea:

I mean it's not like Bama plays that many state sponsored teams from Cali. Aren't USC and Stanford private? Who cares if their next creampuff has to come from one of the other states not looking to protest over stupid shit?

Not that simple.

Can the government tell welfare recipients that they cannot attend church because they have received public money?

Not exactly the same thing

The most blatent racism in business I ever saw happened in....San Fransisco, California.

I went to get a room for the night. In front of me were a bunch of young black kids.

They quoted those kids over $200 for a room. I was like shit, and started to think about if I wanted a room or not. Then another guy came to the counter, motioned me to come over. When I got to the desk he wrote a price on some paper, under $100, for a room.

I was just kind of speechless. Of course I took the room and didn't say anything.

This is nothing more than the phags that run California acting like the cvnts that they are. They won't be happy until there's a freak in every girls locker room and restroom.

Actually, our rights are inalienable, they are not given to us. Our governments duty is to protect them, and to deny them would be holding it's people captive.

And Businesses are not owned by government, they are owned by private citizens. If they were owned by government, you would be absolutely correct. But since they aren't, you are wrong.

And that's why they needed to create a loophole in the commerce clause to legally justify doing what they do.

I stick up for the rights of people even when I disagree with them. That seems difficult for people who want to push their beliefs and social values to understand. It's funny because my argument won't change no matter if it's sticking up for gay peoples rights, or stick up for racist peoples rights - but yours will.

Correct, I do not buy the you must tolerate my intolerance.

I think bigots are just hiding behind the bible and calling it their deeply held religious belief. If they don't want to be gay and adopt a baby, they don't have too.

You're "freedom" shouldn't take away from others freedoms.

I do think people should be able to refuse to take photos at a gay wedding if they don't want too, but hey. And here's the deal, if you're smart about it, you can probably get away with it

exercising their religious belief of I don't agree with it so im going to have an impact on your life is like Im on a diet so you cant eat that cookie.
There is more than one adoption agency. If one you go to doesn't want to service you because of religious beliefs, you should probably go to a different agency that would be more than happy to work with you.

The hell they don't. I'm not a racist person and I would never think of doing that as a business owner, but above all, the government has no right to tell you what you have to do with your money. If I have a restaurant, you're not entitled to eat my food. It's my money and my food, not yours. You aren't entitled to it.

Like I said, I don't support people being racist, and would never frequent any establishment that was, but if someone wants to take their hard-earned money and flush it down the drain by using their business as a conduit for their bigotry, they have that right. Unless they're using government property or government money, the government should have 0 involvement.

Of course not, but similar enough. All I'm saying is, it's not that cut-and-dried.

Not at all in my opinion. I believe churches should have limited tax exemptions and those that get involved in politics should lose it.

For example, I don't think any pastor needs a tax exempt house of this magnitude

Now you're small town minister, sure, no issues
