Roger Craig. He gets the nod for his superior running, pass receiving and blocking. Still, I think, the only RB in NFL history to both rush and receive for over a thousand yards in the same season.

I gotta go with Barry Sanders ... he had moves that deked the camera man.

Le'Veon Bell (not listed) is pretty damn amazing.

I change my vote to Marshall Faulk, why, cause fuck you, that's why.

Craig was one sexy assed, high stepping man beast, but his best seasons came before 88.

Oh. I thought his biggest season was 89 when they won the second of back-to-back titles. My memory ain't what it was and I'm way to lazy to go look it up.

He had an excellent 88/89 season and a fairly good 89/90 season. Most of his best work came prior to 88 though.

It's Faulk, he has a ring unlike Sanders and LT. Smith was a nice running back, but Faulk was the complete package. You could line Faulk up anywhere on the field and he would be a threat, he was the best player in football from 99-01.

LT and Smith over Faulk, lol

I'd still take Smith if I had an excellent passing game, but Faulk otherwise. Smith's big plus was positive yards on most carries, which of course is key to sustaining drives.

Looking at his stats, his top two rushing seasons were 88 and 89 but his year of thousand yards rushing and receiving together was 1985. I neve forgave him for his fumble while running out the clock in the NFC championship game against the Giants which caused them a shot to 3-peat in the 1990 Super Bowl

The Boz would vote for Bo.

Went with Barry. Mad respect towards Emmit, Faulk and LT with what they accomplished.

The game that made Bo a legend was the Seattle game in 87 where he had 221 yards and 2 runs over 90 yards.
What is lost is it was his only 100 yard game that season. Of the 7 games he played he had..
21 carries for 70 yards
9 for 25
13 for 31
14 for49.
He had far more average to below average games than good games.
He was fast and powerful, but not patient or elusive.

Didn't join the team until week 8 and shared the backfield with HOFer Marcus Allen.

He averaged 3 yards or less per carry many games. That happens when backs rely mostly on purely physical gifts but lack the more subtle elements that great backs possess. When the OL gave him the edge and blocking downfield he had those few outstanding games.

Faulk also did it in 99

Change of heart.

Marcus Allen. I don't know about know, but at one time. I believe he was the only player in NFL history with 10,000 rushing yards and 5,000 receiving yards. Oh, and he could block as well.

I don't recall a lot of sharing during the time Marcus and Bo were members of the Raiders. Had Marcus not switched to fullback. I'm not sure he sees more than 5-8 plays a game when Bo would join the Raiders in week or 9 whenever it was.

PS i would have added AP but he cant catch a cold.

lolzzz

AD 2.08 receptions per start
Sanders 2.33 receptions per start

AD wasn't that bad catching the ball he was just so damn good running out of the eye why chance one of the shitty Viking quarterbacks throwing an interception on a screen, just hand him the ball.

You generally don't see power backs very involved in the passing game.

Jim Brown 2.22 receptions per start
Earl Campbell 1.19 receptions per start

TD is getting a lot of love in this thread. 2.19 receptions per start

If Smith almost always went forward why did he finish his career w/ a 4.2 average? Sanders finished w/ a 5.0 average.

I can't front. That 5.0 ypc is gaudy as fuck to me in a good way. I do wonder though how many TDs Barry potentially lost due to being taken out of the game in goal to go situations. I say potentially lost TDs, but of some things there is no doubt. Had Barry not been taken out he those situations. He likely has more rushing TDs. He's definitely w/o a doubt though also have a lower career ypc.

Would've been interesting to see Barry in an offense with a killer blocking FB.

Marcus was a beast to bad him and Al Davis had issues. If they hadn't he probably would be at the top of all these polls.

Man, I love how Barry Sanders played. But if we're going with the total package at RB, I need to change my vote to Marshall Faulk.
