Marshall Faulk slight edge over LT
vote

i also tend to agree. i think emmits the most overrated back ive ever seen. sure, he had moments like that game in NJ where he had to get his hammys treated with electrodes....but i dont think he was even the best of his era, let alone all time....or the last 29 years or so.

barry was the most dynamic runner i ever saw, but he wasnt the best overall back.

Barry Sanders was definitely the most fun to watch. Too bad he played for a crap team. When asked about Barry one opposing coach said "He has two speeds - Here he comes and There he goes"

my favorite player as a kid that wasnt a patriot.

people underestimate his receiving skills too. he was no faulk in that respect tho.

Of the listed backs I'd probably take Sanders. There have been others with excellent peaks themselves though. Gets pretty deep into the weeds at that point.

ERA is a huge part of how you evaluate

In todays NFL, a RB that cant catch a football, wouldnt even qualify as a great

Emmitt was the most effective. Sanders would lose yards on too many carries, Smith almost always went forward.
It was feast or famine with BS, Smith was the type of back you could consistently move the ball with.

I went with Tomlonson.

I posted a poll a year or so ago LT vs Faulk and it was pretty even for the most part. All around I think those 2 were the best.

If Smith almost always went forward why did he finish his career w/ a 4.2 average? Sanders finished w/ a 5.0 average.
