Is it a reach to take Ezekiel Elliot in the top 5? Top 3?

Peterson and Bell are probably still 1 and 2, is it a wait and see with him or do you gamble on a potential stud?

In a standard redraft, I wouldn't take Zeke until all of these guys are off the board, at the very earliest:
L. Bell, Peterson, Gurley, A. Brown, Beckham, Julio Jones, D. Hopkins, and David Johnson...after that? Why not?

I'd take Gurley over all of them.

personally, I want to see Zeke run when 11 NFL defenders are trying to tackle him, before I even take him in the 1st round, let alone top 5 or top 3.

Best Rookie RB seasons - we've had 1 person crack the top 5 list since Edgerin James in 1999, and that was Peterson in 2007. Before that, you are going back to the 80s and 70s, when only a few teams in the league were pass-first, at best.

It's a pass oriented league that is seeing it's best athletes from the offensive side of the ball grow up and develop as WRs, where in years past, the most gifted lined up behind the QB to take the hand off.

Dynasty/keeper, go for it, draft him as early as you want.
Redraft? someone else will draft him long before I'd be willing to, count on it.

I agree.

Late first or early second seems like a fair price. There is monte Ball type risk though, so keep that in mind.

Considering that the RB position is the least predictable (25% - only 4 of the first 12 RB finished that way last season), and rookies themselves are even more unpredictable....

Best reason to take Zeke #1 is to use him as trade chip and turn him into two really good players, or even more.

Never tried the draft a guy to trade him strategy.
What if everyone else decides to wait and see what he looks like in preseason/wk 1 before willing to deal 2 good players for him?

Again, very risky. Not saying it couldn't work, just very risky.

I have never tried it myself, but in dynasty 1, Bar has gotten some very good offers for Zeke.

yes, but again, in that draft, who else would you take...........

in the rookie draft he was the clear cut no doubt choice

in a redraft.......

I'm actually mad I didn't take Zeke in our dynasty on this board for this exact reason. Somebody would've wayyy over paid for him imo.

It's not that I don't want Zeke, it's just I rather not way over pay. I have the 2nd and 7th 1st round picks and both of them and McCoy wouldn't be enough to get Zeke, that's just so much , for a player who never took a snap. We'll be able to tell more after preseason
