Time to give him his shot to see if he can be that guy next year.
Nelson is too small, he is ok, but not starting material. I like him as a depth guy. Could play in the NFL for awhile as a ST/depth guy, not sure he will ever be a starter though.
Todd Davis - Coached raved about him last few season. I just don't see it. He is poor against the pass and while he doesn't really miss tackles, he doesn't come up and make many near the line either. He looks like a depth guy to me.
Don't get me wrong, both of those guys belong in the NFL, but I don't think either is a starter.
Anderson has upside and deserves his shot to be seen the rest of the year.
From a personal stand point he reminds me a lot of Brandon Marshall as a person, great, guy// Humble.. Works hard.
Remember. This is the time of his career when Marshall got his shot at the end of the season and started to catch eyes.
I was just talking with Nick that as bad as it sounds I kind of hope Davis can't go in this game and Anderson gets his shot. I would love for it to be because he got promoted but most coaches this late in the season don't bench a guy that has started every week. So for Anderson I think it will take an injury to Davis for him to get his shot. It was very noticeable though when Anderson came in that not only was he making plays but the entire mentality of the defense changed to a much more attacking style defense. I saw our DL finally getting some push as it was no longer about trying to just occupy space. It was about attacking a gap and making a big play. Need to be doing that from the beginning of the game with this defense and I think with Anderson in he brings a bit of a spark for that to happen.
I don't think it was coincidence that the run defense improved dramatically once Anderson got in there. I agree, he should absolutely be the starter opposite Marshall going forward.
This right here is why I want him on the field. Yes he is a bit of a liability in the pass game. And I'm sure the Patriots are working up some plays to take advantage of that match up but this type of attitude can really rub off on the entire defense.
