I have the feeling it's going to be either CJ or Yu. If the organization thinks Yu is going to be the better pitcher then we should go for it. Otherwise we need to resign CJ.

I'd love it if we could get both though.

We also need to get Derek Holland locked up this winter.

i think they are looking seriously at both CJ & Yu. i also think that they will be looking to get Hamilton, Kinsler & Holland locked up for the next couple of years (i.e. at least thru 2015)

Nolan indicated earlier in the season that the Rangers would NOT be afraid to increase payroll significantly to improve the team

I think they go for both...not going for cj sends a bad message to this team

that's my feeling too. some are saying he wants to go the Angels but i don't see him accepting being the #3 or 4 on their team behind Weaver & Santana. we make a really good offer lock him up and then go hard after Darvish. i know that any offer includes a 50-60M purchase fee to his Japanese team but i can see a 5 year contract at around 7-10M a year.

This guy's stuff is ridiculous, how many other teams are looking to spend big money to grab him?

Don't think so but they are rumored to be wanting to do anything to hurt us

We need to be thinking the same thing towards the Yankees, we can't afford to let them add another good arm/possible ace while our rotation has question marks.

it will take a 50-60M offer to Hokkaido (his japanese team) just to get to negotiate with Darvish

That the kid is only 24 and has already logged over 1,000 innings might be a Dice K red flag when you start talking 100 million dollars to sign him.

Two things...

1) s he throwing a freaking wiffle ball there? That thing is dancing all over the place

2) Can we sign his catcher too? Whomever we have, if we get Darvish then the catcher better be able to block the low ball in the dirt. Torrealba doesn't seem willing or able to do that very well, and Nap would get worn out trying to get those low sinkers in the dirt. That catcher Yu is throwing to blocks them great, and picks them with ease.

Have had the same thoughts. That's an awful lot of pitches to be only 24yo. How many times are MLB teams going to get tricked into throwing down huge contracts for a Japanese pitcher who fails to "show up" here?

I'm not too worried about the innings on his arm. King Felix had more innings at the same age, and I'd offer him $100million today and not think twice about it. Felix is 25 and has almost 1400 innings on his arm.

he's been pitching in the Japanese league since he was 18. that 1036.1 innings is spread over 6 seasons which averages out to approximately 173 innings per season. that is not bad
