I totally agree with Iron Maiden. I got my son into them a few years ago. He is the only 12 year old I've seen that can tell an Iron Maiden song at the beginning from the sound of the guitars.

A few years back I reserved a table for 6 to see Paul Dianno in BB King's in NYC. I wasn't expecting much and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. He played the entire first 2 albums. He came back 11 months later, same place. Me and the guys who went brought about 10 more guys because we all told them how great he was. Turns out he played Boston the night before, drank all night and it was so bad we left after 3 songs:doh:

LOL. I hate it when you go to see someone and they don't bring it.

Later I learned you NEVER see him if he played the night before. That pretty much goes for most older acts now. I still remember how good that first show was. All I wanted was good versions of Prowler and Phantom of the Opera and he opened with those 2 songs.
Another under rated act is Ace Frehley's band. I was never a Kiss guy but a buddy of mine was going to Atlantic City to see him so a bunch of us tagged along and stayed overnight. The ticket was $20 bucks so I figured I'd see a few songs and head to the tables. Couldn't believe how good the show was. That band can really play and the drummer sounds just like Paul Stanley.

This is impossible obviously. If boxed sets and best-ofs aren't allowed -

Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane

or

The Velvet Underground Live - 1969

gun to my head I'll go with Monk & Trane.

Ace is a good guitar player for sure.

You should have said no best of or box sets.

If it's box sets I'm going with Billy Joel.

If it's a single album..........Wow, thats a tough one. Might go with Black Sabbath Paranoid. Possibly G n R Appetite for Destruction.

I did say CD not CD's... :noidea:

Boxset = Pink Floyd
Single CD = Physical Graffiti

It's a double disc, so which one? Just playing, great choice. Might be my choice as well.

Highway to Hell might be enough to make me rethink my choices. That effin album is excellent from start to finish.

Thats in my car right now. Be careful though, there are a lot of AC/DC haters on the Hoop.

A couple I would consider that haven't been mentioned.

Pink Floyd - The Wall or my personal favorite Final Cut.

Everyone loves Van Halen's first album i'm kinda partial to Fair Warning myself.

Dio - Holy Diver, Priest - Screaming for Vengeance would be a couple good options as well.

I would probably end up going with Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime.

UFO - Strangers In The Night. The greatest live album of all time. Michael Schenker absolutely stunning on guitar on that album. Nobody could touch Schenker in the late 70's. Still can't today. A masterpiece.

This is a toughie.

Not sure, but the finalists would certainly have to include:

Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon
Van Halen (first album)
Pearl Jam (first album)
Blue Oyster Cult, Agents of Fortune

Is there weed growing on this island? If so, I'm going with Pink Floyd.

If not, Beastie Boys License to Ill
