Also in the ditch the shootout camp.

3 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss.

I know we were only supposed to pick one, but can we bring FoxTrax (glow puck) back?

You should not be off-sides if you are in possession of the puck, and your skate goes over the blue line before the puck.

2 points for a win.

Period.

Why is a 3rd required?

I like how they do it in English League soccer. There is no overtime, but teams scramble for the extra two points at the end of regulation. It has been this way for over 100 years and really seems to work.

That's really more of a preference thing, though. At the very least, get rid of the shootout, which is the hockey equivalent of deciding a game with a free throw shooting contest or home run derby. Bring back the tie.

Two for an OT win and one for an OT loss

2 points for a win, period.

Nothing for a loss of any kind. This isn't grade school where everybody gets a ribbon on track day.

1 for a tie.

5 minutes of OT, no winner, 1 point each.

Case closed.

That's the same exact system that was in place before these changes.

I'd like to see all games worth the same amount of points (my preference would be 3 points using the following format):

3 points - regulation win
2 points - OT/shootout win
1 point - OT/shootout loss
0 points - regulation loss

However, the league won't do this because the current points system keeps teams tightly bunched and in a gate driven league, you need to keep hope alive that your team still has a chance of making the playoffs. The incentive should be to try to win the game in regulation time, not trying to lock things down tighter than a snare drum in the 3rd period.

:agree:

This was going to be mine, but I see you said it better then I ever could.

And your point is?

Change just to appear to be doing something is what I get enough of at work.

I don't need busy shit fucking up games I love.
