so was that waste of money better or worse than rutgers getting Snookie?
I bet Snookie at least had someone ghostwrite her speech.

Samwise got up there and pulled out on the of the flyers posted around campus and was like "it says here I am going to talk about "Brotherhood and Friendship"...well I wasn't really planning on that. I was at Oxford and got an email from my guy and when I saw how much it was paying to talk here, I coudn't pass it up."

I haven't watched anything Justice League either.

Because I'm not a nine year old.

My best friend has a 12 year old son and when he tells me about movies he's seen there's one line that's common to every response I give: "Dude, I know you love your kid but you probably need to find just a little bit more time in your life to spend with adults"

Seth Rogan.

Will Ferrell sucks

Rebel Wilson

You know, I had totally forgotten about Seth Rogan & Will Farrell - I guess because they haven't got as much product out there as many of the others that have been mentioned. Same with Rebel Wilson. I would have to say that these three - along with Zach Gallafinackas (or however you spell his name) - are the absolute worse excuses for actors/actresses on the planet. They make all the other nominees look like genuises by comparison!

Thread title says it all. I included "well-known" because I didn't want people mentioning small, one-off actors/actresses who played roles that ruined movies (I know a lot of people hate Anakin Skywalker, though I haven't seen Star Wars. He'd be someone to not include, as that was, I assume, his only large role).

For a list of our favorite actors/actresses, go here ----> Your Top 20 Favorite Actors/Actresses

The classic actor I always bring up in this situation is Ben Affleck. I think he's such a boring, monotonous actor. It seems like all the movies he appears in has him reacting to other people doing shit with his stupid face. My favorite movie that has Ben Affleck is Daredevil (3.5/5 stars), and I actually think he was decent in that. But outside of that, Argo (3/5 stars), as a film was decent enough, but he was pretty bland IIRC, and The Town (1/5 stars) and Gone Girl (2/5 stars) both sucked.

He's the #1 reason I still haven't seen anything in the Justice League universe.

Weirdly enough, I think Casey Affleck is a tremendous actor.
I liked Affleck in The Accountant.

Now as to the question, eh - the industry usually figures it out on its own. If someone truly is a terrible actor, then they get weeded out of movies, even if they look good. (see: Richards, Denise)

MOST of the people mentioned upthread CAN and have done good stuff. So Ferrell has done 'Stranger than Fiction,' which shows he CAN be a serious actor if he has to. Hell even Stallone has 'Copland.'

Actors that are shitty people? Meh. The world is FULL of shitty people that get ahead, why should acting be any different?

Actors that have different political opinions? If they're not bringing them to the screen, what do I care? If Jon Voight is a conservative, why the fuck would I give a shit, if he can act?

I GUESS in theory, I'd probably dislike arrogant people if I knew them, but I don't know any of these fucking people. I READ and HEAR that Gwynneth Paltrow is insufferable, but I've never met her, and I'd hit that HARD if I had the chance. (heh)

Do basically I'm drawing a blank? Denise Richards still even act?

I bet you are a big Mel Gibson fan, aren’t you.

Some of his movies have been great. Some, not so much. I even gave Hacksaw Ridge a mostly positive review, just found his loving pans of burning flesh a bit nauseating, (okay Mel, we get it already), and that he tried too much to tug at the heart-strings. Braveheart? Greatness. Passion OTC, stopped watching part way through. Awful movie (at least what I saw of it).

So that's a great example of EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Judge each performance on its merits.

I 100% realize I'm way out on a limb by myself in this btw.

This is how I try to judge movies and actors as well. But when I see Tim Robbins face, it is hard for me to get beyond what a complete doosh-nozzle he is. But I also can’t stand Tom Cruise, but his movies are typically pretty fun. Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors around, but he will likely never get another chance to demonstrate that.

Will Ferrell was great. I don't think he has done much recently outside of a couple of SNL skits and the Lego Movie that I like but I definitely like Ferrell.

All of the people making fun of Tom Cruise and Shia Lebouf can get another vote from me. Those guys should've been no where near action lead roles. Ryan Gosling is someone who I like in some movies and not in others just because I think he seems a little too creepy for all of the romance roles that he gets. Ben Affleck is obviously terrible, too, and Daredevil is one of the worst movies I've seen in theaters ever.

Matthew McCounaughy is great, though. I thought he made True Detective and certainly has some movies where he shines.

In terms of critically acclaimed actors, I think Halle Barry is mostly terrible. Just an awful Storm and an awful Catwoman along with a lot of roles where shes just a sex symbol.

My wife hates Melissa McCarthy and I tend to agree. "She was good in Mike and Molly when she is subtle but she is awful in all of her comedy movies where she tries too hard and just isnt funny" is what she thinks. So basically my thoughts on Jim Carrey.

Completely agree about mccarthy, not funny in the least

Crossing the line from douchebaggery into criminal conduct is another kettle of fish. I think as a society we're judging now how blurry that line is.

From Weinstein (criminal) to Louis CK (ethically fucking shaky) to Aziz Ansari (did something most of us have done)

But Cruise being a kooky cultist who jumps on Oprah's couch isn't something that twigs my criminal ---> bad actor radar.

I'm 100% okay judging his efforts from sublime 'Collateral,' to ridiculous 'The Mummy.' Standing on their own merits entirely.

Ben Stiller

Steve Martin (not all of his work, just pretty much everything since somewhere in The 90's)

Kate Blanchett

Scarlet Johansson

Skinny Jonah Hill. Fat Jonah Hill is great. Even medium.

Sigourney Weaver

Ben Afleck

The skinny tall bird that Terantino always casts.

That fat girl from the movies about singing. I don't care what her name is. She's fat, white and British. You don't like her either.

Tim Robbins outside of Shawshank. I don't even really like Bull Durham cuz of that guy.

Steven Seagal.

Susan Serandon. It's not really all on Andy Dufrain, she's intolerable to me. I dislike her face.

Tyra Banks

R Lee Ermey

That chick that's married to Ron Swanson, in real life.

Martin Short. Except when he's a bitch in Captain Ron.

If I spelled any names wrong, I don't care. Only brought them up because Im
Not a fan. Change your name to how I spelt it for all I care.

Jonah Hill sucks ass, skinny or fat

Ansari’s actions are not even in the ethical gray area. He shared time, consentually, with another adult. The other adult changed her opinion of the shared time we’ll after the fact.

Fuck her. Regret is not r*pe!
