I guessed. :)

His jersey up in the rafters had better be holding something.
he made a career out of getting away with holding

maybe if the Lames and their fans worried more about hockey than who is retiring a jersey they might learn to win a game occasionally.

Welcome to the board, we need more Avs fans round this place.

Warms the cockles of my heart when new guys show up with such openness.

I had a snarky reply all ready to go, but I nixed it. I am looking forward to seeing the steam coming out of Patty Wah's ears from behind the bench though (hopefully they're not plugged with his Stanley Cup rings).

Why would you do that?

The more snark the better around here.

The Avs probably have more numbers retired than the Habs. Damn!

Does the NHL allow players to wear triple digits? "Now in goal for the Avs number 143 Joe Shmoe".

Roman numerals.

Imagine the awesomeness of someone getting Ray Bourque's 77 in Roman numerals: LXXVII

All iterations of the number 43 are to be retired league wide in honor of me.

.
It might be cool if they just resort to letters/numbers combos. I could really root for a goalie wearing A4.

I was thinking about 43jr when I typed that. If he ever makes it to the NHL and plays for the Avs he could have his 143 retired or to use your scenario 43JR.

Would like to see a # of games played for franchise column...

This:
Minnesota Wild Fans Minnesota Wild 1 October 12, 2000
:lame:

#9 has been retired by 13 teams, and #7 by 10.

6 more players in St Louis and Toronto have worn #7 with enough distinction to be "honoured" numbers. 2 more on Toronto have worn 9 with enough distinction.

Also surprised that Philly did not officially retire 31.

Wow, Ray Bourque only played 94 regular season games and 34 playoffs games for the Avalanche and he has his number retired there?

Come on, Avs, you're not even trying anymore. I can't even mock with enthusiasm when they put it on a tee for me. Seriously, Adam Foote? You're retiring Adam Foote's number? I guess it's only fitting they raise his sweater to the rafters, Lord knows he's got enough jock straps up there.

funny thing is that Hejduk probably deserves it.. well way more than Foote. guy had some serious skill and stuck through every stage of the Avs. does his stats show it? probably as much as Trevor Linden for the Canucks but I dont know anything about Hejduk outside his game. Trevor was so much more to the Canucks and the city of Vancouver. was Hejduk?
