and of course, if we can't keep a good offensive line going, it won't matter much who we have at wide receiver. We've seen plenty of that in the past. Bowe would be a neat pick up though.
Does Shipley ever play out receiver? Always slot?
Would they ever consider him as an option in 2 receiver sets?
Wondered the same thing.
What if Shipley could develope into a #2.
Baby Hawk in at slot.
Split Gresham out wide, play both Shipley and Baby Hawk in double slots......mmm, hard to stop.....
I'm no expert, but that might get a little crowded to where it becomes a negative. Not only do you have 2 receivers covering much of the same ground, but you've also thrown an extra defender into the same general area which would not only make passing more difficult there, but also make running out of those formations difficult.
Additionally, you've taken a blocker away from Dalton giving him less time to throw. What we're looking at here is essentially a spread offense which only works on occasion, not full time. Brady and Rodgers are the only guys I've seen that have successfully run somewhat a version of the spread. The Bills tried it and fell flat on their faces when the film was out.
yea, you can't do the same thing every time, so your both right essentially.
Wasn't Peter Warrick a slot receiver that we we're trying to force to be our #1, or did he just start sucking the minute he touched an orange and black jersey?
Warrick was a punt-returner playing receiver. He was too small to be a #1 in the NFL and he wasn't even all that fast. That's probably why we drafted him in the top 5.
I'd say Reggie Wayne is entering the part of his career where he's more of a #2 possession guy.
