To keep him in the game. The only pitchers left are Timmeh and Strickland. And the only bats are Arias and Brown.

Rather take a slight improvement and keep him in the game than lose him with putting Arias in that spot.

It is weird that the Nats have both Frandsen AND Nate on their team. Both grew up die-hard Giants fans and ended up leaving the team under less-than-friendly circumstances.
