There are only 3 ways to develop a contending team:

1) buy free agents
2) develop within the farm
3) trade for what others have successfully farmed or bought from free agency


Here are the facts about those:

1) The free agent market is as limited as it has been in a long time, and it's unclear how much more Nintendo will let any GM buy.
2) The M's can't develop anything outside of pitching with their farm.
3) Z gets systematically owned when he trades.

Where does that leave the team? Somewhere between "unknown" and "well and truly fucked".

This team looks fucking dead. I've seen the 3-4-5 spots in the batting order go down listlessly far too many times on this homestand.

I realize we just arrived at the 1/3rd markerin the season and there is still 108 games to go, but I'm not seeing anything, ANYTHING, that gives me any hope for the rest of the season. I think they are getting worse instead of better.
