The Yanks will be paying arod 25 million next year or something close to that, if they sign Drew for more than a year then what.

It doesn't appear they are really in on Drew, but if they were they'll pay Arod 3 million this year, when the year is over they'll write him a check for 61 million and cut him.

It makes no sense to me to sign Stephen Drew unless you're going to put him at shortstop every day. Either make Jeter move or don't bother. You can't have Brendan Ryan and Stephen Drew on a roster where they're not playing the bulk of games at shortstop. That's such a mismanagement of resources.

The market for Drew has died real quick. Unless there is an unknown team lurking around ready to make a deal. Sox and Mets have cooled on him, Yanks say they're not interested.

I heard the Brian Roberts deal is still not official either. Has that changed? Someone has to replace Cano at second.

The A’s and Twins have emerged as possible landing spots for free-agent SS Stephen Drew (Martino, Jan. 27), who could be willing to play multiple positions, according to his agent Scott Boras (Gammons, Jan. 15).

The Mets continue to see Drew as worth only a one-year deal (Martino, Jan. 27). Similarly, Red Sox are still considering re-signing Drew, but prefer to give him just a one or two-year deal (Martino, Jan. 27).
Drew has been reportedly seeking a three- or four-year contract worth as much as $12 million a season.

The Yankees are unlikely to pursue Drew, after spending $155 million on Masahiro Tanaka, according to league sources (Martino, Jan. 27).

“I think that Stephen will always have other opportunities,” Alderson said. “We continue to monitor his situation. We’re looking at other free agents that are still available and trying to judge their status, and how they might fit with us. I know there’s been a lot of speculation about Drew and the Mets, but at this point, that’s what it remains — speculation.”
The Blue Jays are now in the mix and the Red Sox appear willing to give Drew a multi-year deal (Heyman, Jan. 28). In addition, while there have been reports indicating a lack of interest from the Yankees, a follow-up report said they are still very much involved (Heyman, Jan. 28).
Earlier this week, the A’s and Twins emerged as possible landing spots for Drew (Martino, Jan. 27), who may be willing to play multiple positions, according to his agent Scott Boras (Gammons, Jan. 15).

Is any team IN on Drew at all? I ask, as I just keep seeing stories everyday on teams that have declared themselves out.

Some players really shouldn't hire Scott Boras....

Some?

SOME?

I wonder if it is possible and allowed for players to collude to not use him anymore?

Just an empty wish, I know...

Big news in New York...

Jeter has begun taking ground balls and is swinging a bat!

Don't understand why the Yankees haven't signed Stephen Drew.... Brian Cashman isn't doing his job if he isn't trying to nudge -- hell, shove -- Derek Jeter over to third base.
