Texas is not great on defense, but some of that yardage is a bit misleading.

** Up 38-0 late in the 4th quarter vs LA Tech, they put in backups/walkons who allowed 180 yards passing and 2 TD

** Up 38-0 late in the 4th quarter versus Rice, they put in backups/walkons who allowed 200 yards of passing and 2 TD

** Up 35-17 with 5 minutes to go vs WVU, the prevent defense allowed 150 yards and 2 somewhats meaningless TD

Texas essentially gave up 42 points and 530 yards in what was complete garbage time with mostly backups.

They were collectively leading 121-17 at the time they allowed a lot of meaningless 4th quarter stat padding.

That doesnt make them any good, but they are not as bad as the raw stats.
