Clippard started Cain 0-2. He just couldn't finish him. And a closer should be able to get out of that. Obviously, it wasn't entirely Familia's fault. Easy to second guess the manager, but it took a lot of failed execution to make that happen.

Why didn't Terry go with Familia for a 5 or 6 out save?

Because he apparently thought it was better to let another reliever face the 2-3-4 hitters so that he could then bring in his best reliever to pitch against the bottom half of the order in the 9th.

Can't just place the blame on Clippard,or Familia......(imho that's on Collins)
Murphy's brain cramp was bad too, and he's accepted responsibility....but some of the blame should also go to Cespedes.....he had the clusterfuck hat trick...a snafu in the outfield that cost a run...some bad looking AB's, and then a blunder on the base paths that ended the game.

Sorry just realized I stated this wrong, it was 1-2-3. It was 2-3-4 the other time he held off on pulling the trigger and it cost them, when he let Matz start the 6th.

The Mets are going to be really good with the pitching they have, similar to the Tigers run. They are just having first WS jitters. They will be contenters for years now, a lot longer window than the Royals will have. Just glad the Royals get to face them on their 1st attempt.

I hope so, but there are no guarantees. Our offense sucked for 90 games and then went nuts after the trade deadline deals. We may not be able the keep this team together for next year.
