These career records are all fine and good. However, to get any real perspective on the accomplishment, you have to go by per game & per at bat totals.

Someone mentioned in here recently that the Cardinals have the resources and the prospects to acquire Troy Tulowitzki, that might be the way to go.

I question that, as going after a brittle Tulo, after dealing with a brittle Furcal for the past few years, might make folks think twice.

Zero question of talent, and zero worry that he is a Coors hero, but, you have to be on the filed to be able to help your team, and, Tulo seems only good for 120 games per.

That'd be interesting but I think it'd be another case like Colby Rasmus. Between Roidier and Wainright, there's not enough room for another arrogant prick like Tulo.

Agreed on Tulo's injuries being too big of a black mark but they might go after him if Beltran is off the books

For the regular season, I'd agree.

Jeter played almost a full regular seasons worth of playoff games, think about that for a moment and let that sit in. He was a very big part of the reason that they were playing in those games.

Regular season career compilers < Playoff career compilers

I feel you. But, we are missing each other here somehow. I am not at all thinking of compiling. I am just thinking of how few post season games that were played prior to 1969, and, how the career numbers for the former greats, the Ruth's, Gehrig's etc, now pail in comparison to say the numbers of Bernie Williams.

Did I make my case or point any better?

Yea, there is definitely a line to be drawn.

A few actually.

1968 and 1993 to be exact.

Must be the overbite.

BTW: I don;t think I would ever date the daughter of a bounty hunter, nor would I date someone with that much take down experience.

It's only a matter of time until she is pissed at you, and, then, LOOK OUT!!!

THAT was my point. And, it only has to be done to some stats, those that are not averages and percentages. Ortiz's r.b.i numbers are impressive. But, what are his r.b.i per game numbers, and, how do they stack up against all the all time post season greats?

Even if he plays, he kinda looks like he is at the DH point of a career. He still has the glove and arm but he is getting old. I could easily see Shane Robinson getting more time and Oscar Taveras getting pulled up in the OF. The more I look at it, the more it looks like Beltran is going to be a Yankee or a DH for someone in the AL after this season.
