So, Stroll had an amazing start but fell apart late in the race after they pitted him. Really looked for a while like he was gonna pull it off.

Lewis Hamilton charged from 6th on the grid to take the win which gave him the Championship. His 7th. Tied for most all time with Michael Schumacher.

Hope Lewis comes back next year and goes for 8. But realistically he should have already won 2 more. The guy has won 1/3rd of all the races he has entered.

I think today's win really showcased that as much as having a good car is important, the driver is also a key factor.

That's what the detractors always say "he's in the best car, blah blah blah". But you don't get to be in the best car unless you are the best. Plus, his role in developing that car is not often stated. He always understood what it can do better. He drove it on the absolute limit every minute and he explained that to the engineers so they could figure out how to make it better.

Today, it wasn't the best car. The Red Bull, Ferrari and Racing Point were all loads better. And in the end, the closest one was 30 seconds behind him.

Even VW has given up trying to get fat ass Americans to buy anything other than SUVs.

Been a long damn time since I've seen an F1 car burst into flame like that.

Since we know Grosjean's okay, hope he learns to stop driving like a fucking asshole after this because that one was all him and it's hardly the first time.

Agreed. He totally brought that on himself. Not helped by Kvyat being around at the time. That guy is dangerous too. He flipped Stroll on the restart with a low percentage divebomb move.

But that was the end Romain's F1 career. He isn't renewed for next year and there is no seat for him. 2 races to go and he has burned hands and broken ribs.

Lewis Hamilton tests positive for COVID-19. That's about the only way to stop him from winning.

Get well, King Louie.

NOW FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PUT NICO HULKENBERG IN THAT CAR THIS WEEKEND!

Looking like they might give George Russell a shot. Dangit.

They are still producing/selling parts for privateers, but this is the end of the factory effort.

Audi also announced they are out of Formula E and only doing Dakar this year and will go back to LeMans next year. Also rumors they are trying to sell off Bentley and/or Lamborghini.

I wanted Nico Hulkenberg because he's a really good driver who keeps getting bumped out of drives because he doesn't have the backing of a fashion mogul (Stroll) a tequila maker (Perez) or Russian Oligarchs (Mazepin and Kvyat). He's also the owner of the worst record in the sport, most starts without a Podium. And he's been in position to be on a podium 7 times late in races and failed to finish each time through no fault of his own.

But this is good. George Russell has yet to score a point in F1 (Top 10 finishers get points) and is in the absolute worst car in decades. BUT when he tested the top Mercedes car before the season he was actually faster than Lewis Hamilton by a tenth of a second. It would be awesome for him to come in and score a win. I expect George to be the #1 at Merc once Lewis calls it quits.

Neat.

Also neat: This weekend's race will be the first one since the 1994 Portugese Grand Prix that will not feature a Schumacher or Hamilton on the grid. That's 473 Grands Prix.
