A man was taken into police custody after driving his Toyota through the front window of a downtown Porsche dealership late Monday night.

Police were called to the dealership at Parliament and Front streets around 11 p.m. for reports of a vehicle into a building. When they arrived, they found a Toyota Yaris had been driven through the window of the Porsche dealership, damaging vehicles that were inside.

At least three vehicles were damaged, CBC video producer Tony Smyth reported from the scene. The windows and the building also suffered "extensive damage," he added.

Employees at the dealership said they were told by police that the man wanted to be arrested, according to Smyth. They also said the driver spun the Toyota's tires after the crash, which caused the dealership to fill with smoke.

The car has since been towed out of the window of the dealership.

The Germans need to know a lost cause when they see one. Just let American car makers die.

While a VW Powetrain in the Ford Edge crossover might be decent, there is nothing else good that can come of this. Are they gonna put an ecoboost engine in a Golf? blech

I really hope it's just VW buying for assets like offices and manufacturing plants.

Whew. It's a technical collaboration starting with commercial vehicles and expanding to vans and pickups and eventually to Electric Vehicles.

My friend bought one two years ago, light blue with the drop and the square headlights like in the pic. Awesome car.

And like you said, cost-wise it was more manageable but it's definitely risen in the last little while.

I still think the R129's are quite nice too but that's probably a divisive topic.

I think Mercedes older design aesthetic is so nice. Like that 450pic I posted. The thing is over 40 years old, but looks beautiful. I like the R129s also.

And this is also on my "when I win the lotto " list. The 190E

Of the German cars of the time, I think Mercs ruled in appearance. I think Audis are now the most attractive car family overall now. Mercedes has some stunners, but some real weird looking things. Like this:
