Hearing the same thing at Dodgers stadium. An outdoor game in LA is actually easier logistically than in Pittsburgh. The issue with ice is not as much the temperature as the humidity. As long as it doesn't rain and the temp is less than 80 degrees ice can be made. Cameras getting glare from the sun could be an issue, especially since they want an early game in NY and a 1 pm local time start in LA.
The second issue is opponent. I would think the Ducks or the Sharks would want in on this but NBC may want a national draw. Especially since it is the second game and many people have already had their fill of hockey.
It is suppose to happen on Hockey Day in America, which last year was Feb 17th. Can you say Olympics? So I don't know when that day is next year.
