Winter Classic 2012

I know it's early, but what do you think they will do next year? I know the obvious answer is Caps-Pens in Washington, but given the weather I don't think it's feasible. They could do Caps-Pens at PNC Park, I guess, but I'd really like to see them duke it out at Happy Valley.

I know this is a really dumb idea and will probably never happen, but I also like the idea of going way off the board and having the Penguins travel to New York to play the Rangers at the new Yankee Stadium. That may be just a pipe dream though.

I think the 1/2 of the Penguins should play the other 1/2 of the Penguins in a scrimmage with the Mellon Arena roof open and then refuse to shake hands after the game....

They will have their choice of NFL stadiums to host the event. We know that nothing will be going on in any of them.

I don't know, with all the diving and NHL poster boys out on the ice, I think the officiating crew's heads would explode. If Crosby runs MAF, do they call a penalty on the Penguin? Can't do that... but MAF just hit Crosby with his face... but... oh no... system malfunction..

Me too. I think it's the Rangers turn. Maybe the first time for a East/West matchup? That'd be new. How about someone like the Kings? Big market, can't host but, still, growing fanbase, exciting/young team? I think that they'd be a great pick.

Good picks...depending on these Iggy rumors (not that I see anything happening) it could be a good matchup at least. However, are they gonna continue the second matchup in CAN? If so, that could fill in that slot...because you know Gary'd never do a CAN matchup on primetime NBC.

The NHL will have a new tv contract by this time next year and with the NFL and NBA on hiatus, there will be no need for a Winter Classic.

But the show must go on, so the obvious answer is Kings/Rangers at Caesar's Palace in Vegas.

I dont know, I think the new contract will be centered around the Winter Classic. With Comcast buying NBC I dont see VS or NBC losing anything though.
