team meeting time. zetterberg needs to address this play. flat out unacceptable hockey by this team right now. getting blown out 7-2 against any team is ridiculous, let alone against the flyers

The Flyers owned the deed to the N-Zone this afternoon. The Smith/Quincey pairing was so bad that their ratings were in negative figures. DeKeyser appeared to be lost in the D-Zone whenever the Flyers applied pressure. The forwards in our end had no idea what their roles were when defending. Too often the Flyers who were in the crease area were left unattended, and several times when one of their forwards off the puck skated in from the half-wall behind our coverage, no one of the Wings saw it coming, and didn't seem know he was there. It is quite unbelievable how the game plan could possible be to let the opposing players camp out in front of Howard without any of our players providing some type of coverage there. It's a free-for-all for screening and a rebounding frenzy just waiting to happen. Even our forwards aren't providing support either; they are just standing around waiting for their lottery numbers to be called by the public address announcer. These guys haven't a clue what they are supposed to do in our zone. It has become habit-forming to say the least.
Mike and the assistant coaches need to sit these guys down one at a time and explain the ABCs, like you would to a 4-yr old, then take them out on the ice by hand and show them what to do in the several different situations, similar to how you teach a peewee. They need to get back to the simplicities of how to play in their own zone, even if you have to go so far as to bring Nick back from Sweden as a special adviser for a short period to get these guys out of the trance that they're in. Unless they do something shortly, this team will be struggling once again to make that final squeeze to get in to the playoffs. If they look over their shoulders they'll see a few teams with their engines smokin', climbing up that hill behind them.
