This team is going to be fun to watch this season. They've added a much needed element to what we have been missing for a few years now, that being speed with puck support by linemates that can keep up with the play. And, regardless of their size they aren't tentative about hitting anything that moves in their direction to the puck. Tonight, especially, their forechecking was first-rate. Also, in my opinion, this was Big E's best game. He pounded anyone who got in his path to the puck. Higgy must have been jumping for joy to see her boy throwing his weight around like he did tonight. It's really unfortunate that the stick on the hands of Kronwall wasn't called. These days that is as automatic a call as you'll find in mostly every other game. As a player, you can"t even get away with getting your stick up in by a players hands. In many cases, these guys will be called for it on that play without the refs even knowing if the blade of the player's stick actually touched the hands or not; they'll call it either way. I really believe that it was a case that Sutherland just wasn't going to call that in a situation where there was under a minute to go, and, as the case was several years ago, refs would not call anything, unless blatant, near the end of regulation because they didn't want their call to decide a game. But, as was the case today, what that non-call did was to make a significant difference in the game. But, as we have seen even in other games, not everything is called the same at the end of games the same way as it is in the earlier going. But, as an afterthought, had we gained control of the puck in the first place on that face off, that decision wouldn't have had to be made.
