We had our 2nd and 3rd stringers transfer in the offseason so we have a walk on Senior (Alie) and true freshmen (Burmeister) left. Alie actually played some snaps at QB back in 2015 when Adams got hurt. He can run a little bit but he's really limited as a passer for the PAC 12. Burmeister is a dual threat guy as well and was a former 4 star recruit. He looked like he needed some work in the spring game but the potential is there. We were planning on redshirting Burmeister but that went out the window when Alie got hurt in the 4th quarter.

My guess is that we start Alie vs. Washington State (assuming the injury he suffered vs Cal wasn't serious) but I think you'll see both play until Herbert comes back.
