I’m still trying to figure out why someone thinks I’m upset because the Broncos “shit on” the Seahawks because of the Wilson trade. That’s a bizarre thought when Seattle obviously got the best out that deal.
 the broncos shit on Wilson LOL (not the seahawks)

Seahawks laughed all the way to the bank on that trade.

  1. He said the Broncos shit on Wilson, not on Seattle.
  2. Schmoopy is not a Broncos fan, so I'm not sure you know how he thinks.
  3. Yes, we were giddy.......until they signed the huge contract prior to him taking one snap as a Bronco.
  4. Hackett sucked and so did Wilson last year.
  5. Payton is in his first year and has done wonders with a poor team. Wilson has better stats this year but the Broncos offense is ranked nearly last in all categories. He's a big part of that. The coach will be held accountable if he doesn't improve performance over the next few years.
  6. So you've talked to everyone outside of Denver? It's too early to tell if the Payton hiring was good or bad but all early indicators are that he's improved performance and the culture.
you sir. Need to be more objective! More like our friend the Wilson fan :becky:

Wrong. I’m not a Wilson fan. I think he acted selfishly in Seattle and burned his bridges. Still I can recognize his talent. I can recognize when he’s misused. He has a particular skill set and a scheme needs to utilize that.
Exactly. He is not Brees. And that is who Payton had for years in NO.

Since we are on this topic.....if the Bears decided to keep Fields and then hired Greg Roman? That would be maximizing Fields' talent. Roman did a good job with Jackson on the Ravens.

Brees was a team player. He did not insinuate himself from his teammates. He was one of the guys. He earned the respect of his teammates and he elevated their play.

Wilson isolated himself and came off as a phony prima-donna . He failed to earn the respect of his teammates. They don’t defend him on or off the field.

That’s the problem with some coaches. They don’t have the ability to adjust their plans in a way which maximizes the strengths of the players they have. They try to force the proverbial square peg into the round hole. Often a coaches ego is greater than the player’s. Payton appears to be an example of that.

Payton did adjust his schemes to maximize Wilson's skill set. That's exactly why Wilson's stats have improved this year. However, even Payton has admitted that he's had to pare the playbook way down, due to Wilson's limitations. It works both ways on NFL teams.

well you might have a point if Payton was the one that went & got Russ.
But he wasnt.
HC's job is to put the right people in the right spots for the job.
He doesnt feel Russ is that right guy.

I dont blame Russ or Payton for that. The GM brought Russ in for a different HC.
The extension was the Broncos main undoing.
Again not Payton's fault.

Payton is trying to force Wilson into doing things which are not his strength. He’s not taking advantage of Wilson’s strengths. Now he’s making Wilson the scapegoat for his failures.

Payton runs the team. Not Russ.
Which is why he is looking for Russ's replacement.
Russ doesnt fit the game plan.

Payton is not doing a good job. That is evident by the number of players who appear to be loafing and not playing hard on various plays. Especially on offense.

this team was inherited.
Curious how different this line up looks next year. :hmm:
when it starts to get his fingerprints on it.

Payton is letting his ego have a negative impact upon his performance as a game planner and game time coach.
last nine games.
6-3
with what you call a mediocre lineup

So what? How does that mitigate his inability to motivate and get the most out of his players?

A good coach doesn’t need to surround himself with “his” players. He needs to be able to get the most out of the players he has. The inconsistent play of the Broncos indicates he’s failing at that.

LOL
Everything about this team has improved from last year.
